You own all of it.
You knew who Trump was when you nominated him, when you elected him, when you supported him when you enabled him.
Trump didnt appear out of nowhere, with no history to be looked to as a measure of his worth. You knew about the bankruptcies, the endless lawsuits, the scams that bilked people of their money, the shady business dealings you knew all of it.
You knew he was a pathological liar, a racist, a bigot, a misogynist. You knew he was an incompetent blowhard, with no concept of how government operates and absolutely no desire to learn.
You knew he had the attention span of a gnat, the temperament of a tantrum-prone child, the intellect of an idiot, and the maturity of a spoiled, indulged frat boy.
You knew he was selfish and self-serving. You knew he had no morals, no empathy, no concept of any reality that didn't acknowledge him as the center of the universe. You knew he lacked the mental capacity to govern a nation, and the emotional stability to lead.
You knew he was appallingly lazy, physically unfit to deal with pressures of the presidency, and emotionally unfit to make decisions that affect not only the US citizenry, but the entire world.
You elected him. And once installed in the Oval Office, you looked the other way while he insulted our allies and kow-towed to our enemies. You sat in silence as he ignored the best interests of our country in order to pursue relationships and policies whose only purpose was to enrich him personally. You sat mute as he disparaged and demeaned our judiciary, our intelligence community, and the very concept of a free press.
You said nothing as children were torn from their parents and locked in cages, as our military was sent to the border as a political stunt, as he declared certain nations to be shithole countries, as he called Nazis and white supremacists very fine people, as he sowed division and encouraged violence.
And throughout this so-called presidency, you have defended his idiocy, made excuses for his apparent stupidity, and have attempted to Trump-splain everything from his lack of even a modicum of common sense to his endless litany of ridiculous lies.
Given the revelations over the past two years and especially over the past few weeks it is now abundantly clear to anyone with a functioning brain that collusion between your pResident, his family, his associates and his trusted advisors and our nations enemies is not a theory, but an indisputable fact.
And what have the American people gained in all of this? An economy thats great if youre a multi-millionaire, stagnant wages, an exploded deficit, tariffs that are damaging businesses, a chaotic stock market and a party that wants to cut social security and Medicaid, prevent citizens from voting, take affordable healthcare away from millions, and systematically destroy the principles our nation was founded upon
And you own it every cofveve-laden tweet, every crime, every treachery, every corruption, every lie, every immorality, every inane statement, every self-serving action, every stubborn defiance of the facts you own it all.
You have aided and abetted every crime your pResident, his associates, his advisors, his best people, his crooked lawyers, and his family members have committed. You had a chance to pick a side and you chose to side with a traitor.
Theres no walking away from this, my friends across the aisle. We are in a place tonight where our democracy is teetering on the edge due to your pResident being Putins puppet, blatantly willing to do whatever necessary to please our enemy the same enemy who went to great lengths to ensure his puppets election.
The only silver lining in all of this is the fact that every action your pResident has taken has served to destroy your party. You were once a political force now you are nothing more than collateral damage.
Be assured that those of us who have witnessed your complete disregard for the well-being of our citizens, the survival of our values, and the upholding of our principles will never stop reminding the populace of your cowardice, your subservience to a madman, and your complicity with a traitor.
The Trump brand-name is already toxic. The Republican brand-name is about to suffer the same fate. And you brought this all on yourselves.
You own it. You own all of it. And were going to nail that to your ass every time you take a breath from now on.

(81,125 posts)I will NEVER let anyone who fell for trump forget it. ESPECIALLY those who aided and abetted while serving in federal, state, and local government. Especially those whose allegiance to some agenda trumped their love of and duty to country.

(9,426 posts)Every statement is true. Plus, remember tRump is their "best of the best" They can not elect a quality person, since there are no quality people in their party. All money grubbing scumbags, with their leader at the head of the pack. He is being allowed to completely destroy not only the US, but the world. A less than average con artist with absolutely no redeeming qualities. Disgraceful. Putin is getting the last laugh as he takes over the world.

(7,142 posts)that says, someone should read the Mattis letter to Trump. I didn't click on it, but think about that.
We have a president who doesn't read so we should treat him like a baby and read things to him like I do to my grandchild. No, dammit, that's not the answer. I was against the 25th Amendment because it was an involved process, now I'm not. I don't say this lightly, and I say it with respect to people who are mentally ill, Donald Trump is mentally ill. Yeah, yeah, I know, he is evil, you bet, and mentally ill. The problem is there aren't people left in the cabinet with the common sense to invoke it. Who is going to invoke the 25th on Trump, Steven Miller? He's nuttier than Trump.
I hope the Republicans, the high up Republicans, who looked the other way, are happy because they got their tax cuts, well baby, you better know how to short the market because I have a feeling we haven't seen the bottom yet.
Also, the Freedumb caucus is as insane as Trump, they fuel him. His 35% base are zombies who will never be cured because they watch Fox News every day. God, I wish there was a way to convince advertisers to pull out of Fox.
I honest to God fully expect Trump to appoint Steven Segal to replace Mattis. I'm done for now, sorry. Maybe Dennis Rodman.

"The most common lie is with which one lies to one's self."
(Nietzsche)
They have consciously lied to themselves, and in the process damaged this nation in ways that haven't been realized yet. They have corrupted the principles upon which this nation was founded for the imagined concept of white supremacy. We are morally debased and on the precipice of disaster, circling the drain.
As a criminal defense attorney once said to me, "Everything changes once the lying starts." As such, I impart these words of wisdom from Dick Cheney, "Go fuck yourselves."

(12,847 posts)But I'm not so sure about those who are still in the Trump voting base. Some undoubtedly know all the egregiously deplorable attributes of this POtuS and want to burn everything down, but others (perhaps the majority) simply "believe" -- throwing inconvenient truths down the memory hole while embracing Orwellian doublethink.
They've been conditioned for decades by Faux News and are incapable of admitting to themselves how deeply they've been conned.

(7,142 posts)Part of their indoctrination was to believe that all Democrats are evil, lazy, welfare sucking, baby killer, snowflake subhuman things.
They almost elected an accused child molester over a decent man in Alabama.
Look what Fox just did; The Senate passed a CR by voice vote, the House was ready to vote on the same bill, but Fox News, Rush, Ann Coulter goaded Trump into stopping the House vote. The M$M is a huge part of our problem. Trump won't be here forever but the M$M will still be pushing its hateful agenda after Trump is gone.

(799 posts)We could add compassionate to that but the sad thing is that his supporters still think he is the great savior. They do not see what is right before their eyes. They are still defending every dastardly, treasonous, self-serving, democracy destroying thing he does. How will these people ever take responsibility for the hell they have put us in?

I will, we all here in DU will. Will our elected Representatives? I understand the need, in Congress, to get some agreement on occasion with "the other side." I only hope our guys understand now and never forget that when they're working with Republicans they're working with quislings and traitors whose view of loyalty to America is, at its very strongest, soft and undependable. Republicans will "cooperate" on bills that feather their nests or the nests of their donors. Period. The only God they know is Money, regardless from whence it comes. The "super-patriotic" NRA's dealings*, eager and hungry-ass dealings, with Putin's Russia is proof of that.
So, elected Dems, work with the bastards if and when you must, but don't turn your back, keep your gun slung low and your finger near the trigger
*I for one would buy and proudly wear a red T-Shirt bearing Maria Butina's lovely face under which runs the logo "Not Really American", the capital letters outsized. Beneath the logo, of course, a hammer and sickle.

(7,142 posts)The right wing corporate controlled M$M was a huge factor in getting Trump elected president and in keeping him in office. It isn't just about the M$M making money and getting ratings, they are complicit. The M$M is controlled by big wig Republicans/Libertarians who are happy with Trump.
The M$M is still catering to Trump. For crying out loud, Trump has done more right now than Richard Nixon ever did, yet we aren't allowed to say the i word, we must whisper it. We need to change the right wing narrative that pervades the M$M. We need more Maxine Waters out there demanding Trump be impeached. The narrative isn't going to change by whispering, the right wing piranhas will eat us alive.

(9,670 posts)I had a beer with a friend of mine last night who apparently only pays attention to politics via his other friends in our very, very red state, mixed together with a little Rush and FOX for good measure. He told me yesterday that MEXICO had approved building a wall and the US has committed 10.6 billion dollars to them to help get it built. He questioned why we couldn't appropriate 5 billion dollars to build it on our side of the border for half the price.
If this is how these folks are being conditioned to think, it's no wonder there's no reaching them.

It is time to deliver. Your writings help focus the efforts to keep it honest.
USA is either a land of laws or it is not. No middle ground, no compromise. Hold Republican'Ts responsible, hold Republican'Ts accountable. USA is ruled by law or "We The People" will kiss the Republic goodbye!

(4,341 posts)Unfortunately, we are the choir, everything Nance has written in this article is very true, to the point and cannot be more clear, but if we are the only ones who read it then I am afraid the truth is getting lost within the choir.
I pass the link to all the people I know, I am sure those who are republicans don't click on the link, only those who sing in the choir, but these truths that have been put together so eloquently need to be spread, in a bigger form, one that people like Rachel Maddow can do.
I don't know how to do it, maybe it is as easy, if Nance doesn't mind, just to send her the link, I don't know.
If Nance doesn't mind, gives her permission, I suggest for those who know to send it to Maddow & friends, and see who will read it, I have a feeling that Lawrence would enjoy Nance's writing.

(27,813 posts)... am endlessly amused by those who talk about Spanky's re-election. He couldn't be re-elected today - and we've still yet to know what Mueller knows - and can prove. So where will he be two years from now, after all of his crimes have been revealed?
Somehow I don't see "He's a corrupt, Russia-colluding, money-laundering traitor - but vote for him anyway" being a vote-getting bumper-sticker.

(54,302 posts)I foresee the 2020 election season as a brutal fist fight among Democratic candidates, because they know, as they did in 2008, that that the Democratic primary will, in essence, be the election for the presidency.
The Republicans' only hopes will rest on our candidates (with a lot of help from their post-Soviet friends) tearing themselves apart to the point that the eventual nominee will only get there after irreparable damage. Everyone from Jill Stein to Bernie Sanders to Jerome Corsi will be out there looking to toot their own horn (with their varying motives), and grab a few headlines they think they deserve. We will be a fat cow, with respect to both cash and glory. No one will be making any waves trying to step into Trump's shoes. Everyone will be trying to step into Obama's/Hillary's shoes, since both presences will loom large and neither will be running.
The saving grace that we didn't enjoy last time is that the owners of big social media sites like Facebook will be looking to be extremely vigilant this time. With a Democratic president and stronger Democratic presence in Congress, they can decide whether far more stringent regulation of social media by law is needed or not. If they do a credible job of keeping trouble makers out, they will suffer far less regulatory wrath from legislators who think they have done an adequate job on their own.
