The Washington Post is reporting that Trump says the shut down will last a very long time unless

the Democrats approve his wall

The republicans own this, NOT the Democrats

"Breaking News: In morning tweets, President Trump sought to pin blame on a looming shutdown on Democrats even though he said last week he that he would proudly own one if Congress did not meet his demand for border-wall funding.
Trump’s threat came as the Senate prepared to take up a spending bill on Friday.
President Trump on Friday urged Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) to fight “as hard as he fought for anything” to pass a stopgap spending measure that cleared the House on Thursday with money that Trump is seeking for his promised border wall.
Trump’s exhortation, contained in morning tweets, came about 19 hours before a deadline for the president and Congress to come to terms on a spending bill to avert a partial government shutdown. Trump also sought to pin blame on Democrats for a potential shutdown that just last week he said he would proudly own if his demands for border security were not met."

Hold strong Dems. Isn’t it factual that the shutdown would last no more than two weeks? Let the Republicans shut it down for two weeks and then the Democrats can call an emergency session and end it. This will not look good for Republicans.

I’m not one hundred percent sure about the timeframe for us taking over the house.

Force Republicans to keep asking for more taxpayer money or they won't do it.

I fully believe the Senate will have the votes at that point. The situation will be much different.

That's the job of a government: There is a problem and they solve it.

The legislative makes sure that the people support the idea.

The judicative makes sure that it is legal.

The executive makes the idea real.

It is not the job of the opposition to provide the government with ideas and solutions.

permanent status and path to citizenship for DACA recipients. If he wants 5 biillion so bad, he needs to give something up too. Holding Americans hostage isn't negotiating. Offer him the 5 billion for our DACA solution. It would be a bargain for us at 20 billion less than what Schumer offered him last year.

The pressure of the shutdown is going to be on him and the feckless Republicans that continue to allow him to wage war against his own country.

No more giving the republicans something first, and then expecting them to honor their word.

Wait until the new congress takes over, and tell him if he wants his wall, then do universal healthcare first

"Make Mexico pay for it" has pretty much been my standard talking point on this stupid wall. I have no delusion he would cave on DACA for 5 billion. But he is going to have to make a deal that democrats will accept, at some point, because he can't hold America hostage indefintely. And we have the leverage on our side in this case, so it wouldn't bother me to make such a proposal and see where it goes. I know its a stretch, but I would buy DACA permanent status for 5 billion in a country nanosecond if we got the chance. He's a horrible negotiator and is ripe to be taken advantage of.

proudly carry the mantle of the shutdown? That he would not (pledging to Schumer before the press) that he would absolutely not blame the Democratic Party. He would gladly take the heat.

Another lie? Another flip-flop?

I remember Trump's campaign promise; he is going to build a state of the art concrete wall along our southern border, and Mexico is going to pay for it. The Bill that the House just passed violates Trump's campaign promise.
Trump never said that American taxpayers would have to pay for the wall.

Of government workforce. Many of us have been funded for this fiscal year. Occasionally I’ve heard some news media report this as a “partial” shutdown but others seem to think it will be everyone. I hope the con is wrong about the length but if not I and others should be as supportive as we can for those that are being held hostage by this shut down caused by the unstable, crazy orange con man in our WH.
