New: Jared Kushner, Mick Mulvaney and Mike Pence are now meeting with Schumer in his office.

Wish Pelosi was with Schumer.

New: Jared Kushner, Mick Mulvaney and Mike Pence are now meeting with Schumer in his office.

Safe to assume they didn't come empty-handed. If any deal can be reached, it'll be with Dems, not R's.

This is the best glimmer of hope we've seen all day.

but if there's a deal that involves the slightest change to the bill, it gets kicked back to the house, where pelosi could help get enough democrats to overcome republican division (not an overly likely scenario, but possible).

alternatively, if these negotiations stretch to january 3rd, then certainly pelosi would be quite relevant as speaker of the house.

It’s like one of those tv shows where the cab driver comes in the house and becomes inveigled in the conversation of the family as they argue.

For example: clean DACA vote passes both House and Senate and gets signed before any vote on increased border security funding (preferably not a wall).

Democrats keep their legislative negotiating promises, Trump and McConnell do not.

So, I imagine they are loosing leverage. They are going to come with offers, but there is no deal to be made with that bigot in chief.

Schumer previously indicated would allow them to add some border money for DACA protection. Maybe not the entire $5 billion, but he might agree to it for a billion and DACA, along with a promise to revisit the funding later.
