Sorry I've been out of the loop since about 4pm Eastern.

(3,344 posts)It's basically back to the bargaining table to see if they can get something to pass. We don't know what is being discussed.

(128,444 posts)The Senate just gaveled into recess until noon tomorrow. The House is in recess until noon tomorrow.
The Senate passed a bill by unanimous consent to provide back pay and leave restoration to feds impacted by the furlough. That bill will have to be passed by the House and signed by the President before it is enacted.
There are negotiations going on behind the scenes between the leadership of both parties in both chambers (and I expect their staff). Otherwise nothing seems to be on the docket for the rest of the night and the shutdown will go into effect overnight.
The one thing brought up on CSPAN2 by a political analyst was that Monday was made an administrative holiday by Executive Order and Tuesday is a federal holiday, so barring those feds who normally work on weekends, the bigger impact won't come until next Wednesday and there is a hope that something can get moving before then.

(51,567 posts)The GOP can't govern their way out of a paper bag. When are these old, white GOP men finally going to go away? Do we have to wait for them and the old, white men who elect them to finally die off? Will we survive until then? That is what my dad (an old, white Democratic man) said will have to happen for real changes to take place.
