Let the Senators know you support their stand. (I would say "against the wall" but that has a bad connotation from the '60s. )

Admit that the wall was a campaign promise, and he should add that in the very same "promise" trump said "Mexico" would pay for it. Yes, trump should "keep" that promise and when Mexico writes the check for the wall, he can build it!

The spin doctors in the Dem party need to keep two points front and center regarding Trump: (a) he took responsibility for the closure and (b) he said Mexico would pay.

If Obama had done this (putting aside all the other stuff the Buffoon-in-chief has done), he would have been rightfully destroyed.

DEMS: LET CITIZENS UNITED WORK FOR US FOR A CHANGE! You gotta' spin for the masses!

(Yes, I know it's bad to write in all caps, but sometimes, you gotta' do what you gotta' do).

a campaign promise. tRump has $$$$ tied into this wall dream. His ONLY motivation his entire life has been money. This is no different. Those Billions could do more good in the economy, repairing crumbling roads, bridges etc. He employs undocumented immigrants at his places of business. Never bothered him before, why now? $$$$$. Follow the money.

being paid during this holiday time is unacceptable.

Glad that Dems are taking a hard stance, NO $5 Billion for a wall and that Trump owns this shutdown.

Dec 2018
“We arrived at this moment because President Trump has been on a destructive two-week temper tantrum demanding the American taxpayer pony up for an expensive and ineffective border wall,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, (D-NY), said on the Senate floor on Saturday. He emphasized that the Democrats are ready to work with Trump on a budget that includes funding for other border security measures, but called a wall “unnecessary” and “wasteful,” and “President Trump’s bone to the hard-right people.” Schumer said that the wall-funding budget lacked even 50 votes in the Senate—implying that even some Republicans don’t support it—and urged the President to seek compromise for the sake of ending the partial shutdown.

“President Trump, if you want to open the government, you must abandon the wall, plain and simple” Sen. Schumer said.

While Schumer and McConnell spoke on the Senate floor Saturday, Trump was having lunch at the White House with members of Congress, reportedly for the purpose of seeking compromise to end the shutdown. The only problem? There wasn’t a single Democrat at the lunch. Attendees included Vice President Mike Pence, Republican Sens. Richard Shelby of Alabama, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, and Mike Lee of Utah, and a number of Republican congressmen who serve in the conservative House Freedom Caucus.

Now Trump is getting a lesson on how to negotiate. He's a terrible negotiator, and being led down a typical negotiation path.

For sure he wants to play golf and will cave. He will resign or accept the way out Schumer will offer him. First Schumer says "no way, no how", and then offers Trump a way out to save face. Trump will take it to save face.

That's how *real* negotiation is done--the last offer to save face is the final move by the controller of the negotiation. Trump will swallow it hook, line, and sinker, and think he's the winner.

I'm amazed at the change in Schumer now that Nancy is about to be elected Speaker of the House. And of course the big news is that the Dems finally have majority in the House! It will happen in the Senate too, I have great hopes.

Schumer speaks for all the chicken-shit Repukes in the Senate who are too scared to stand up and speak against the Orange Asshole. Schumer knows who they are and so does McConnell. Their number is growing daily.

Negotiate negotiate negotiate! We will not have another opportunity to trade $5 billion for his damned fence and we get:

DACA permanent residency with citizenship potential.

Stop of child birder separation policy.

Release of children in custody.

Stop of Vietnamese refugee status end.

True immigration reform! Let him have his win and we get ALL THIS!

Call Nancy and Schumer! We have a chance to end this wedge issue republicans have used since time began!

will do nothing to solve immigration problems; that the immigration "problem" is a wholly manufactured republican fantasy; that the idiocy will put people off their own land, cost a bloody fortune, be a blight; that it is a racist construct for racist ends.

We need to dominate the news on this nonsense. We need to make people know it is absurd.
