President Trump is not illegitimate...

I've heard a lot of claims that Trump, his appointments and actions are not legitimate because the election was illegitimate. I completely agree that the election was a joke.

And I agree that Hillary won, or rightly would have. And agree that in another world, she should be President.

*However*, unfortunately, we dont directly elect the President. We advise the electors, and in 2016, we failed to block the electors from casting votes until a review took place.

And they did legitimately elect Trump.

I cant imagine any scenario where we can undo any of his court appointments or laws without first winning many more elections.

Wish I was wrong about this.

And I'm also tired of DU appearing to be as ignorant of basic civics as Trump supporters actually are.

Would have, could have, should have is nice.

But no, the CIA is not going to swoop in and save us.
Even if Trump stands in the middle of Times Square with Pence at his side and admits they stole the election, it won't magically make Clinton president and undo anything Trump did.
And yes, we're stuck with all of his dangerous court appointments.

"the CIA is not going to swoop in and save us."

So true. All they seem to do is lie purposefully to get us into another war.

The post started with something along the lines of wondering if s/he had watched too many TV/movie shows.

14. So where did I say that DU, as a whole, believed that?

It is a post on DU, and not the only one on the issue, and it makes DU appear ignorant of basic civics because how DU appears is the result of all of the indivudal posts here (including that one and others like it).

It's laughable really. While there's a 2% chance that Kavanaugh will be removed for lying under oath, neither will be removed because the 2016 election was stolen. We're stuck with all of his judges and laws (unless the laws are repealed by another President).

3. You are wrong, he is illegitimate

If substantial sums of foreign money flowed into his campaign, he is illegitimate.

If his party engaged in voter suppression sufficient to change the outcome, he is illegitimate.

If his party and / or a foreign power used stolen Democratic Party information to affect the election, he is illegitimate.

If his party and / or a foreign power used unethically obtained social media data to target voters with fake news and propaganda sufficient to affect the election, he is illegitimate.

10. Your top priority should be ending the electoral.college.

Because his right to act as president derives from the electoral college, not directly from the popular vote.

We.need a constitutional amendment to ensure direct elections and a method for reversing illegitimate outcomes.

But what we have not doesnt allow such actions.

to prevent someone like Cadet Bonespurs from taking office. The electoral college failed to to do their job by blindly voting on the vote tallies. Would a poll taken today by the electors show any regret over their votes?
