We keep suggesting it is Trump directing things. But I'm not so sure.
What is more likely happening is a strategic and calculated dismantling of our government. I don't credit Trump with the ability to craft such a strategy or to even implement it independently. He has a handler constantly guiding him.
Who is that handler?
From whom is the handler getting direction?
The last two years are far more consistent with, and evidential of, a well crafted plan being implemented, but with the flexibility to take advantage of unforeseen events (like Mattis' bagging it).
We can all imagine this is the plan of Putin, et al. But who is the guy in Trump's ear? Or maybe not a guy? Maybe a woman.

There may be some big business megalomaniacs/billionaires who want to get rid of as much "costly" government/regulation/taxes as they can while they have their lawless know-nothing pulling the levers. Putin is just fine with that and is glad to do whatever he can to help.
