White House: Trump would accept less money for border wall

WASHINGTON — A top White House official signaled Sunday that President Donald Trump is willing to accept less money than he's been demanding to build a U.S.-Mexico border wall, but a senior congressional Democrat said that, while their own offer could be sweetened, they still will not agree to a wall.

The back and forth across the television airwaves did little to inspire hope that a Christmas season closure of some federal government operations would end later this week, when the House and Senate are scheduled to meet again.

In fact, acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney warned that the shutdown could stretch into January, when a new Congress is seated.

Mulvaney, who also runs the White House budget office, said he's awaiting a response from Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer of New York after the administration on Saturday presented Schumer with a counteroffer in the long-running dispute over funding the wall.

Not even the fee for the gaming license, which I'd appreciate if you'd put up yourself.

And do you know why? Because I would not put it past him. I would not put it past him to build "La Pared", invite the Russian oligarchs to gamble there, and staff the place with underage immigrants. Of course, those immigrants would work for free because he would dangle the possibility of citizenship in their faces if they just kept quiet.

The Godfather II quote was just too perfect - and the casino reference was the cherry on the top.

Forgive me for assuming that everyone is as big a Godfather geek as I am.

"the shutdown could stretch into January, when a new Congress is seated. "

Sure seems obvious that Trump was determined to do a shutdown. first he makes a 5 billion demand, knowing it won;t be met, then closes the Gov. as much as anyone is able to.
All most voters will hear is "Gov't shutdown" and assume that applies to Congress, when in fact their checks are guaranteed into next Sept.
But a lot of other Congressional dependent jobs will be affected.

Wrong.

Someone just write the Anemic Dingleberry a check for $500 tell him he's won and it's the wall money.

Then be done with the whole matter.
