The President fired his Secretary if Defense, who had just resigned. The firing occurred because the President got angry at the SecDef's resignation letter, which he failed read initially and only understood it after tvnooze carried the story.

He then hastily named a totally unqualified deputy to assume the role of Acting Secretary of Defense.

So with one week of transition time, the new guy has to oversee our withdrawals from war zones and worry about the heating of (betcha few even here on DU know about this) the Balkans fomented by the Russians.

I won't even bother with the other agencies that are similarly hobbled.
