A MAN OF OPINION AND DEVOTION

But the way some folks recall it, there was a bunch of hot-shot reporters in Williamsburg covering an event that turned out to be a dud. They were bored and some had been drinking the night before as well.

Lyndon B. Johnson was visiting town, and they hoped to catch him as he stopped in for a service at Bruton Parish Episcopal Church.

The Rev. Cotesworth Pinckney Lewis gave them their story. At the 11 a.m. sermon, he told the congregation, including Johnson's family, that Americans needed a "logical, straightforward explanation" for the Vietnam War. By 5 p.m., the remarks of a small-town parish priest were all over the country and all over the world. The Rev. Lewis got calls from Australia.

Why doesn't this kind of stuff happen to 'Rump? Especially when he sets foot inside a church.

Someone made a wrong turn somewhere, and ended up in a place he never intended to visit.

Why would Trump attend a worship service when the only one he worships is himself?

There are several known photos of Hitler attending church. His handlers wanted to send the message the fuehrer was a good God-fearing man, when all evidence shows he was nothing of the sort. The same thing could be happening with Trump.

In real life they’re going to have to remove the carpet and wooden pews from the church Trump’s funeral will be held in to keep the fire from spreading too fast.

It's bad enough he can't go down to his dump in Florida for the next two weeks. Now he is forced to sit though another church service, instead of playing golf. I do love this line from the article, however:

Trump most likely would have been attending Christmas services at church near his estate in Palm Beach, Florida.

Since when did that asshole ever go to church services when he was down there? If he did, it was probably a staged photo op, rather than an actual church service.
