Don't call him Donnie bone spurs anymore...

It’s all a lie just like everything else. Daddy got him out of serving in the military.

I posted the Raw Story link because the original is from the New York Times, could be behind a paywall.

https://www.rawstory.com/2018/12/trumps-bone-spurs-lie-daughter-podiatrist-helped-get-president-vietnam-service/

The daughters of the late Dr. Larry Braunstein, a one-time podiatrist based in Queens, have told the New York Times that their father helped President Donald Trump escape getting drafted during the Vietnam War by fabricating a diagnosis of bone spurs in his feet.

56-year-old Dr. Elysa Braunstein tells the Times that her late father implied that Trump did not suffer from a debilitating foot ailment, and that he offered the bogus diagnosis as a favor to Trump patriarch Fred Trump.

Had connections used them. But my recollection was that everyone I was around would have done anything to get out. Half the frat house was elated to draw a good number half was desperately sad and scared. Many joined the national guard in lieu of Vietnam where you likely would get killed.

Friggin Draft Boards were a hot bed of shady crap.. And the so called Swell's seemed to pull tons of Y Classifications. While the Cannon Fodder Kids had their S-2's pulled and reclassified 1-A just to meet Quota's. Lived that nightmare as well as dozens in my Home County

This was a useless war that was killing young men and anyone paying attention at the time knew it. Among a lot of doctors there was a hidden trend of giving youth a way out. Diagnosis that could not easily be proven, disproven or shown to be malpractice.

The crime here is that after having dodged the draft, a youth with any decency should not grow up and try to grab the honor that men have earned by serving. After having dodged the draft, turning around and trying to reduce the honor of men who served and sacrificed shows a very basic lack of character.

In the Vietnam era, conservatives would have stood in line and paid to spit on a person like Trump. Now not so much. Now they would pay to spit on a true hero that showed compassion. There are more than a few examples of this and this is one of the reasons I delight in hearing that Corsi and Stone are in trouble.

I knew guys who tried everything they could think of to get the doctor to disqualify for them, I think it was called "4-S" then. I knew a guy who pretended he was gay, and another one who tried to convince the doctor he was diabetic. One guy pretended to have an epileptic fit during the examination. So yeah, a lot of faking going on then. These guys weren't in school so they didn't have the college deferment, and their dads weren't rich like Fred Trump.

You're correct - the draft dodgers probably had (what we would consider) acceptable reasons for refusing to serve, but those who did serve still deserve our honor and respect for their sacrifices. For TrumpHumping, right-wingers to pretend that veterans don't deserve their benefits now is just the height of slimy hypocrisy.

First time he ran his narcissistic mouth the Smokies would have been on him like ugly on an ape.

"We needed an asshole like you for an example, for behavioral modification, to show the mob just how bad it can get. Prepare to experience pain, true pain."

He would have been back in Queens within a week.

reports in the Vietnam era and I guess the Military didn't want to screw around with chasing them down to verify when it was sooooo easy just to draft another load of poor/middle class 19 year olds like myself.

Luckily graduating HS in 1971 let me barely squeak out of that disaster of a War and only have to do the bogus Army "physical".
