Inmates on the Possibility of Trump in Prison: 'He's Worse Than Any Dope Dealer'

As an imprisoned Donald Trump becomes ever more likely, people on the other side of the criminal justice system debated what it would take to get him there — and why he would deserve it.
“He went out and got himself a real mob lawyer in [Rudy] Giuliani,” an imprisoned Chicago man who goes by “Po’ Boy” told VICE.

“If he don’t go to jail for all the crimes, and I mean all the crimes he’s committed, then no one should ever say we have equal justice in this country,” Po’Boy said. “Let’s keep it real: Trump’s worse than any dope dealer or white-collar criminal in here. He makes Bernie Madoff look like a saint.

Po’ Boy, who is doing time for a parole violation and asked the website to not use his real name for fear of retribution, said that he’s sickened by the double standard between the conservative treatment of “a real criminal” like Trump and former President Barack Obama.

Trump may resign his federal job and cut a deal ( I hope NO ONE offers him a deal- he has harmed this country by his traitorous dealings, and far too many people in other ways ). Even if there is a federal deal bargain, I hope SDNY continues to pursue him.

3. I do not think he will ever serve time. We did not do that to Nixon.

If/when the apricot hellbeast leaves office, he will get Secret Service protection, excellent medical care, courtesy calls from the next WH occupant & (better) functioning State Dept. We, The People will pay for office, staff, a 'library' for his records & achievements, and a state funetal when he dies.

It's a great deal for him & his wife

4. I don't think there is any comparison of Nixon's crimes when he was on his way out

of office next to Trump's traitorous crimes. When Nixon was on his way out he was simply caught in his lies about his Watergate coverup. He wasn't considered to be a traitor to the country. Trump may stand accused of selling out his country to Putin for his own personal gain, and he committed many, many more crimes than Nixon was accused of, for which other federal and/or state prosecutions could arise. In this sense it doesn't seem so far fetched to me that Trump could go to prison.

Please note I am not considering Nixon's crime of interfering with LBJ's Vietnam War negotiations to end the war, which was unknown by the public at the time he left office. I believe had that been known he may have very well been prosecuted and gone to prison.

Of how a disgraced president leaves & lives after office.

We, as a people, treat our former presidents & their immediate well, there are examples of this (Mary Todd Lincoln, IMO was not well treated).

I just don't think he'll go to prison.

7. i agree. he can hire a team of lawyers who can delay things ad nauseum.

hell, he can delay things by repeatedly firing his lawyers and asking the court for time for the new lawyers to get up to speed.

by the time the supreme court has settled all the constitutional issues and he's finally tried and convicted, he'll produce a medical report saying he's too ill to be imprisoned. he's already old, and doesn't take care of his body, and by that time he might actually be telling the truth. he'll lie anyway, of course, but in any event he might have a good argument for staying out of prison based on health.

best case scenario is he's on house arrest in one of his mansions. at that point his remaining life expectancy won't be more than a few years anyway. statistically, he's down to about 8 or 9 years now anyway.

6. I want Trump to be impeached, convicted and removed from office

I want that stain on his record to remain in history books forever. He's the worst President ever and he doesn't get to walk away from this. The Republican Party doesn't get to walk away from this.

As far as a prison sentence it's a little bit out of our control. Depending on the defense lawyers, the judge and jury he draws, he might get off like OJ did. Some things cannot be predicted in a trial because they can't be controlled. In the court of public opinion and the American voters - he should definitely go down.
