“Naive” implies that, given accurate information from objective sources, one could be reached and enlightened. But Trumpists reject as untrue ANY information that imperils the status of their cult leader.

And, as you say, they cannot handle the truth, nor are they even interested in separating objective truth from the fabricated lies they ingest on a daily basis, steadily fed to them by the usual suspects of Fox, Breitbart, hate radio, Russian trolls on social media, etc.

10. My very intelligent nephew likes Trump

He is only about 20 years old. His parents are both liberals and don't like Trump. I had thought he was an original and independent thinker, but I can only come to the conclusion it is some kind of sociological phenomenon in order to fit in and be looked at approvingly by the larger society. He lives in Alaska and considers himself rural, and thinks city folks are the ones who do not like Trump. It is so hard to wrap my head around. Because he is so young and vulnerable, I don't feel like debating him, though I saw a friend of his on facebook was doing this.
