The only way I see it affecting him is if we remember it, and repeat it every chance we get. Republicans hammer and hammer and hammer on their talking points, whether they're true or not. Trump's lies have achieved a kind of immortality, so much so that the Washington Post has instituted a new category, the bottomless pinnochio, to describe the relentless lies of Trump.

The advantage to our remembering this point is that it's true. Trump really did lie right to the faces of active duty military in a war zone. We need to get over our natural reticence in reiterating what we think "everybody knows," and make sure that even the most detached, disinterested, lowest information voter knows that Trump told the troops they were getting a 10% raise in pay when they were getting barely a quarter of that.

Say it, say it again, and repeat it, until conservatives have to start every defense of Trump by saying, "Well, he might have lied when he told the troops they were getting a 10% raise, but . . ."

Military pay raises are automatic. Trump didn't do fuck all. In all this coverage about the 10 percent raise, no one is talking about how military pay increases are calculated, the legal basis for raises or that congress has to vote to increase the amount over the formula, which was not done.
