rather than melts, causing dense fog close to the ground. When that dissapates, the snow is gone and the ground is dry.Sometimes this occurs in a few hours, even for a deep snow, usually followed by mild weather.

Some winters are milder than others, but what we have coming now promises to include a lot of very cold wind. I have my faucets dripping because the wind chill is supposed to be between 15 above and 15 below.

I think the high temp tomorrow is supposed to be 24 or 27.

New Mexico is a land of extremes re temperature. Some years might see below 0 temps in January or February and might see 105 during the summer.

The Windchill is based on the rate of heat loss from exposed skin caused by wind and cold. It does not affect things like water inside pipes.

So if it is going to be sub freezing and you have water pipes exposed to those temperatures, then sure, allow them to drip.

But the reported wind chill number does not increase the chance your pipes will freeze.

Its one of the things I loved about mile+ high elevations in the west. It can snow a bunch and then melt away.

Got 3 inches of snow yesterday so the blizzard will go on top of that. I have 4 miles of dirt road to the highway and when it starts melting it's worse. We can only go in and out in the morning and night when it freezes otherwise it's bigly mud. So, it's pretty, but it sucks.

I remember my poor friends who lived deep in the forest on those dirt roads that were often too snowed in or to muddy to get in and out.

You're right it could be a mess.

But from my house in Flagstaff with Alligator Juniper burning in the fireplace snow was very pleasant.

Stay warm and dry in Mountainair.

We’re at 7,000 ft and an hour away from Albuquerque. Usually it melts away pretty quickly.
