How the "shutdown" might end?

Nancy's House will submit a plan to Mitch McConnell's Senate and they will negotiate something to send to Donald Trump...that he will sign. That will be a point that Republicans will try to hammer home.

Democrats will attempt to adhere very closely to the bill passed by the Senate, but without the February deadline. In the interim, Democrats will point out the wasteful and obsolete idea of a "wall". In this age of technology, with GPS and the rest, we need to think more intelligently. This is a time the Democrats can use to educate the public.

Ideally, Donald Trump would let the House and Senate negotiate a good piece of legislation without interference from the White House. But, will that ever happen? Very, very doubtful.

It will be interesting to see what type of proposal Mitch and the Republicans come up with? Will it be close to what they passed, almost unanimously, the last time? Or will they move to a whole new ballgame, simply for political purposes?

Democrats should be willing to compromise on any money spent for "Border Security". However, the money should be spent wisely - not on bricks or concrete or Russian steel. Democrats could agree to support more money for stations to handle asylum cases on the border. They must spend the taxpayer's money wisely. Children should not be dying while in the custody of our country.

In my opinion, the Democrats hold the advantage in this debate, at this time. Much will depend on how they define the issue and how they educate the public?

Republicans should stand up for the country and the Republican Party, not some hare-brained idea of Donald Trump. If necessary, they should be willing to over-ride his veto. Perhaps it is time to show that the Legislature is an equal branch of government?

How does it end? Republicans will have to make a choice? They will have to choose the security of our country over the security of Donald Trump. It should be an easy choice for them. However, they are deathly fearful of Trump's base. Therein lies the problem.

their tax refunds that they'll be forced to override this stupid, childish veto. People depend on those refund checks every year. If the shutdown lasts until the end of January, they'll be forced to act. Folks will probably get sticker shock as it is what with important deductions evaporating from the tax scam bill, and then to not get whatever refunds they're entitled to will just enrage them.

If Republicans want to play politics with this, then Democrats should oblige. When in Rome, do as the Romans do.
