It's time for the Pentagon to come clean. The American people deserve to know the full scope of our operations assisting Saudi Arabia in Yemen. We need to hold our partners and ourselves accountable.

When I asked the Pentagon if they tracked US fuel and bombs used in Saudi airstrikes in Yemen, they said no. But new reports show that information was available to us all along. The reality is, US supported airstrikes have killed thousands of civilians.

(51,280 posts)President Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, personally intervened in a $110 billion arms deal to Saudi Arabia to get the Saudis a better deal, The New York Times reported on Thursday.
US officials say the Trump administration planned to announce $110 billion in sales of advanced military equipment and training to Saudi Arabia this weekend when Trump visits the country.
The package includes tanks, combat ships, missile-defense systems, radar and communications and cybersecurity technology. The announcement is expected Saturday. Officials providing details were not authorized to speak publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity. Much of the package builds on commitments made before Trump took office.

(58,605 posts)Every supply officer in the Military service has to track how much they used and project how much they need to requisition for the next period of operation. Napoleon said, (perhaps euphemistically) that an army marches on its stomach. The fact is that since there have been armies, there have been supply chains of some kind. Over the centuries, as technology has improves, they have gotten more and more capable of it, but the fact remains that no military unit will last long without proper quantities and quality of supplies.
Yeah, they know.

(64,877 posts). . .that they even have to account for the expended brass on the shooting range.
And they don't have to account for ordinance and fuel?
I'm not ex-military, but i am absolutely certain you're providing the truth here, Bear.

(58,605 posts)Back in my day, we didn't police our own expended brass on the firing range, but I imagine somebody did later.
The brass is recyclable, and with metal costs rising, collecting it makes sense. Now, they don't do it on the battlefield maybe, although one could make a case for doing so. Many civilian shooters do their own re-loads, collecting their brass and re-filling them with powder and inserting new bullets. Our insurgent opponents probably do the same.
Yeah, the supply chain is followed pretty closely, not closely enough by congressional oversight, perhaps ( ), but they know how much to ship to units in the gulf, for sure.

(638 posts)I appreciate you pushing this very important issue on twitter. We need to stop this war and keep this cease-fire going. These children in Yemen are on the brink and we cannot let this administration give any more arms to the Saudi's. Also as a side note. Run for President!
