Democratic Leadership from Hawaii

Hawaii senator to donate salary earned during shutdown http://j.mp/2RgZFfb

Senator Mazie Hirono, a Democrat from Hawaii, pledged to donate the salary she earned during the government shutdown to her state's food banks.

Unlike hundreds of thousands of federal workers who were either furloughed or working without pay since the partial government shutdown took effect a week ago, members of Congress are getting paid as usual.

"More than 2,500 federal workers in Hawaii are either furloughed or working without pay during the holidays because Donald Trump shut down the government,” Hirono said, as reported by Hawaii News Now.

"As long as Donald Trump refuses to reopen the government, I will be donating my salary to Hawaii’s food banks—who serve nearly one in eight Hawaii residents in need.”

As a U.S. senator, Hirono receives a salary of $174,000 a year, which amounts to slightly less than $3,500 a week.

Isn't she fighting an illness?

Well, short story, I'm a terrible shopper, I bought my grandson an outfit, shirt, pants, with a hoodie. I was like 3 sizes off, the wrong way, too small. I was taking it back to the store today but my car couldn't make it past the Salvation Army. I gave it to the person there and just her warm thanks and best wishes made my day.

My point is not to brag on me, that was a small gesture, my point is that Donald Trump will never learn that the only way to get anything out of life is by giving. He won't realize that on his death bed.

..."blue dog," Iraq war supporter.

He's a dwindling breed of Dem, with many of his House coalition of 'moderates' having moved on; about 14 members left, down from 54.
