I'm upset to hear people mention "the wall" as if it could be real.

It can't be built. Even if a small portion of "the wall" was built, it
would be an immediate waste of money and a failure.
"the wall" is a bullshit, racist and irrational idea, and only an idea.
I hate it when I hear people say, just give him the wall--it can't happen.
Legally, geographically, physically, practically, fiscally--you name it---
it won't happen. It's just a concept of racism. Arrgh!

But I agree that the idea that a wall will protect a country is absurd.

"illegals" are down to zip around here. There are a few miles of steel fence
on each side of Naco, Az.

It doesn't have to do anything. It doesn't even have to exist. It just has to be defended.

It is a reason to hate, not a real wall. Stop to think about the
enormous and insurmountable problems with trying to actually
build a "wall". The legal BS would be tied up in court for years.
It can't be done, won't be done, and shouldn't be done.

... Trump's supporters are on-board with the Wall.

But he sees it only in terms of what he perceives will be a lasting monument to him.

When he talked about "a huge cement wall", what he was picturing was something akin to the Great Wall of China - undoubtedly with the name TRUMP emblazoned every 500 feet in gold lettering - just like on his buildings. He imagined decades of people ooh-ing and ahh-ing over this structural marvel, singing the praises of the man who made it happen.

The Wall was never anything more than what Trump saw as a symbol of his own greatness, a lasting monument to his own insatiable ego.

Everything he's said about "securing the border" or "protecting the nation" is complete bullshit. He's not the least bit interested in anything other than his name being associated with something people will be looking at for years to come.

I thought trump was supposed to be a businessman. What kind of business would invest $5 billion (and likely much more) into a massive project without first taking those basic steps?

It's federal land, but the wall would be about a mile from the river.
Almost everywhere else the land is privately owned.
I think eminent domain laws will bog down things for years.
Some Reservation land too.

The government has built nearly 700 miles of wall and fencing since 2006, mostly on federal land and where the terrain does not provide a natural barrier.

she never said she was running and expressed confusion at the thought YET there were posts here asking about what her platform was and where she stood on certain issues and how bad she would be for the country. ETC.

AS IF she were a candidate already. Geeze oh Pete!
