Don Jr. May Have Gone to Prague, Not Michael Cohen

Ever since the Steele Dossier was published Michael Cohen has denied that he has ever been in or near Prague in the Czech Republic. But most people thought he was lying.

This week McClatchey reported that there is convincing evidence that his cell phone was used near Prague in 2016, so we thought this was proof that Cohen has been lying all along about the Prague visit.

But now there is speculation that Cohen is telling the truth. The thinking is that he himself was not in or near Prague in 2016, but someone else from the Trump campaign was there with one of his cell phones.

And Ivana’s father lived near Prague and was visited by Don Jr. many times during his childhood. So for Don Jr. to visit Prague would not be surprising or suspicious, since he has been going there his whole life.

Cohen was in Europe, and was in a position to go to the Czech Republic without leaving a trace in his passport because you can travel freely within countries there.
Looks like Cohen was in Prague.
Plus why would Trump sacrifice his son by giving Cohen an alibi?

If Cohen traveled there, at that time, by himself, it would be easy to connect the dots.

If there are multiple people traveling to the Prague area, the ability to prove who it was adds reasonable doubt.

talking to phone numbers linked to the Russians

and Trump Jr or whoever has been lying about it, then Trump has a significant problem arguing no conspiracy because some of his folks would have been caught lying about it.

Whether it was Cohen, Don Jr or someone else close to Trump, this is not good news for them.

If the Steele dossier misidentified Cohen because his burner phone was used, sorry but that is not too terrible an error.

What doesn't make sense is Cohen continuing to lie, particularly after he got a deal for just 3 years in prison. Mueller seemed pleased with him; those 3 years didn't come from him but from SDNY. Now he says Mueller knows everything, and he's most likely right.

It may be and probably is Junior, or it could be someone else. But I no longer think it was Cohen. That doesn't put Cohen in the clear; it was his phone that he must have given to someone.
