That wasn't a transformer explosion, whatever it was.

Light up this color, it is quite beautiful. They are transformers exploding. Although that was on a whole other level as far as, how big it was and how long it lasted. I imagine it had to be terrifying, even if you had an idea of what it may have been.

we had the eye in the daytime. I remember watching transformers blow left and right during Erin (1995) in Vero Beach had a direct hit. Back then in the old days, all we had was a radio. People were calling in freaking out, I was young and thought it was beautiful.
I've seen others throughout the years, but I'll always remember being in awe of the "blue green lightning".

Just a transformer exploding would have been a quick flash and big boom. However, when a high-voltage insulator fails, it can arc over for a time if not detected and stopped.

I'm just shocked that the protective relays didn't trip out the feeders much faster, and that may explain the duration....

New Yorkers can be some of the meanest mother-fuckers in the valley. Some are the nicest people you'll ever meet. When it comes to FOX News it depends on who you talk to. FOX just happened to get in touch with a New Yorker that isn't exactly a fan of FOX, Trump, and right-wing propaganda. I'd say it's about a 65-35% split on the good side.
