Trump staff terrified because mentally incapacitated president thinks hes winning wall fight: Howard DeanTOM BOGGIONI 30 DEC 2018 AT 14:36 ET
Speaking with MSNBC host Francis Rivera, Dean reiterated one more time that he thinks the 72-year-old Trump is mentally incapacitated.
As I said before, I actually think the president is mentally incapacitated and I have thought so for quite some time, Dean explained. He says things that he knows arent true and that somehow he thinks people are going to believe, and they just dont.
So essentially you cant really make a bargain with somebody who is irrational, because they wont keep it, and Republicans have been quoted off the record as saying such a thing, Dean added before warning, Republicans and the Democrats in Congress have got to do the best they can in the absence of a chief executive who is really a chief executive.

(28,270 posts)It really annoys me how the MSM is portrayed as "liberal" or left wing.
That conventional wisdom couldn't be further from the truth, see below for instance!
Les Moonves: Trump's run is 'damn good for CBS'
By ELIZA COLLINS 02/29/2016 06:15 PM EST
"It may not be good for America, but it's damn good for CBS," Moonves said at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference in San Francisco, according to The Hollywood Reporter perfectly distilling what media critics have long suspected was motivating the round-the-clock coverage of Trump's presidential bid.

(747 posts)I remember Katie Couric on the Today show showing the infamous clip of the "hoorah" and claiming how un-presidential and unfit Dean was. At the time I didn't understand why I wasn't as offended by this as was she and, clearly, the rest of the MSM. Now I get it.

(56,582 posts)And he was polling behind in NH before the Iowa Caucus. The campaign was already dead in the water.
Mr. Quackers
(443 posts)I probably should have looked this up before I responded. That was the only salient thing I remembered about Dean. That and meeting him that summer at an event.
Seems like a long time ago.
Recursion
(56,582 posts)It's one of those things where the media latches on to a narrative.
Dean was just ahead of his time. If he'd run 4 years later, who knows?

(12,485 posts)of the playback to make Deans rejoicing sound like a scream against the rest of the background noise.
EffieBlack
(14,249 posts)He screamed into a direct feed mic that amped up his voice and tamped down the background noise. The mic is fed directly to the multbox from which the TV cameras get their sound so they get clean audio so the speaker's voice doesn't get drowned out by the crowd. It also means that if someone screams Into the mic, it will sound louder than it actually was to the people in the room
It wasn't a plot against him.
Yonnie3
(17,376 posts)When we set up the press multi-box, we have an ambience microphone picking up crowd noise plus microphones for speech. A compressor is set to limit the maximum output of the box. When things get too loud the electronics reduces the levels. The microphone that gets turned down the most and soonest is the one(s) on the crowd. It is easily heard if one knows what to listen for, especially when viewing sporting events.

(21,064 posts)They amplified (literally) the "SCREAM" to the point that it sounded like an unstable man and then ran with that for days and days. It ended his political career right then.
They could have, at any time, ended rumps political aspirations, but instead wanted to ride the crazy train for profits. And this is what we got for their greed.
workinclasszero
(28,270 posts)You explain it perfectly.
The MSM could have ended Trump's candidacy a million times but refused to do so as they focused on Hillary's damn emails and other right wing conspiracy theories.
They knew a republican would enrich them and take off all monetary constraints so F America!
Wonder how they feel about their boy now when he labels them the enemy of the people?

(56,827 posts)Dean has been leading in the early polls going into the Iowa caucuses. He then started slipping right before the caucus and then, he not only didn't win, but he came in a distant third behind John Kerry and John Edwards.
the "Dean Scream" took place after the caucus when his candidacy had just suffered a fatal wounding.
WhiteTara
(29,676 posts)Dean had given a policy speech that would have been detrimental to broadcast media corps and they knew he would win, so they did that. Rahm being the asshole he is/was pitched him to the outer world, for what reason, I don't know.

(26,087 posts)day one.
If our party had the majority his being in office would be a minor nuisance at best as then Congress would be doing its job to be the check on the executive however currently we are not the majority and the party that is has been in bed with the President to get things like their guys on the supreme court.
In other words they threw the country under the bus to get their way.
