(1,765 posts)She is fantastic I just love her! I remember getting to see her last year when Joaquin Castro brought her to San Antonio for a small gathering to talk about Trump's tax scheme. She was hilarious and just as awesome in person as she is on TV. I felt so honored to see her so up and close in person! She is an inspiration to all!
She also reminds me of my grandmother who was exactly like Nancy in so many ways (including they look almost identical when my grandmother was her age) except my grandmother was not a politician. She was a strong woman and a hard worker at home, managing family and as a CEO wife she managed my grandpa's career. He would not have been as successful if she wasn't pulling the strings and he always admitted that. After she died a close family friend said that when she was 40 and thinking about going back to school to get her architect degree but wondering if it was really worth it since she was 40 and my grandma told her..."follow your dream either way you will still be 40 so why would that stop you." Now that family friend is a successful architectural professor at the University of Houston (and proudly part of the resistance).

(42,862 posts)Amazing to think about how some wanted to choose someone else to be Speaker. So much hand-wringing about wanting "new blood" or "someone younger" ... basically they wanted change for the sake of change. What a short-sighted mistake that would have been! Especially NOW.

(176 posts)I was getting nervous when they were talking about someone else there...and very relieved when they went with Nancy. (All men too, were the ones trying to not let her in) Assuming they were the corporate-owned Dems. But Nancy is the only one who has any chance of fighting tRump. It's a blessing that he is SOOOO stupid about government....

(86,508 posts)She is a sharp, quick sense of humor
She is eloquent in making her point
She understands all of our laws, I mean ALL of 'em
She is one of the great negotiators of our time
She welcomes everyone from every walk of life*
She is the coolest "mom" type who can defuse an argument among screaming children in a calm voice.
*truly, she would negotiate with cheatolini if he were a rational human being instead of the putrid blob of nebulous orange slime from hell that sucks all the oxygen from a room upon entry that temporarily inhabits the personality of the last toddler it devoured moments prior - that he is.

(15,366 posts)in speculation about a Dem candidate for 2020 - is that while Joe Biden and the non-Dem BS are consistently mentioned as potential candidates in the senior spectrum, Nancy Pelosi is not.
While I personally believe that it is too early to speculate about 2020 Dem Prez candidates at this point and would much prefer a younger candidate for 2020, I firmly believe that Nancy Pelosi is head and shoulders above Biden or BS as a candidate and would make an outstanding Prez.
I wonder why. Hmmm!

(14,249 posts)And she has been attacked viciously by the GOP and people supposedly on her side. Her politics, her liberalism, her looks, her age, her longevity, the fact that she gets criticized so therefore, she's a "lightning rod" - nothing has been off limits.
But she doesn't get mad or lash out or hold grudges. She didn't respond in kind to the negative ads, the ugly smears from hateful, misogynistic Republicans and the petty criticisms and cowardly efforts by naive Democratic candidates who fell for and bought into them to distance themselves from her. She just smiles and keeps on keeping on doing her job and taking care of business.
Badass.

(2,284 posts)I got angry with those who wanted her out of the Speaker role. She held it together when the House was Repub and that took a lot of strength and intelligence. She is again demonstrating her strength against the giant orange blob.

(46,067 posts)Plenty of woman over 50 cannot even get job interviews unless a phonecall is made, which is rare.
Nancy Pelosi defies the stereotype of women being useless after a certain age. She's older, wiser, and more experienced. Maturity counts.
