Romney's Side-show Bob Campaign
On the Simpsons, Republican serial attempted murderer Side-show Bob is released from prison, due to media pressure from Rush Limbaugh.
He runs an ad against his opponent, Mayor Quimby, saying that Quimby is soft on crime, having released a dangerous maniac like Side-show Bob from prison. (The ad ends with a quickly blurted, "Paid for by Side-show Bob for Mayor."
I think of that every time I see Romney complaining that Obama has "slashed" medicare by implementing cost saving measures that Romney celebrated only a few months ago as tough-minded reform when they were retained in the Ryan budget.
"Obama supports elements of the reckless Romney/Ryan plan. Paid for by Romney/Ryan."
