Stupid bureaucrats.

And yet whenever the budget ax falls, these people always seem to end up still having a job. It's always the teachers who get laid off.

It looks as this young miss is holding her ground and will not be duped into a forced apology. Good for her.

Why am I not surprised?

She earned the diploma effective at the posting of the final grades. I hope she and her family sue these fucking hillbilly doucherockets for every dime the school system has and then settle for a public, televised apology from the officials from the superintendent on down, release of her diploma and ten bucks in damages.

Perhaps, like the proverbial iceburg whose upper tip is visible, this incident is only in the media because of the 4.0 GPA, and there are others that have been subject to this administrator's past wrath.

Should every student be assigned an attorney? Or should we instead end the idea that we'll pay you later for work done today?

by all the other kids and parents, fainting, etc.

If a word exist in the bible it should be allowed to be spoken allowed within 1000' of a school, let alone a graduation.

7 out of the 12 Midwestern states voted for Obama in 2008 with 78% of the Midwest's electoral votes. Even in 2004, Kerry received 47% of the Midwest's electoral votes. There are plenty of progressives in Midwestern states.

Maybe it rattled their brains or something. Then again, maybe not...a lot of folks around here are like that already.

I see a lot of people on this thread calling "sue 'em," but around this part of the country, it's not necessarily that easy. There's no guarantee a judge will find for the student in this case (yes, rural OK is that far into the Kool-aid), and that doesn't even begin to address the intimidation issue (in such an area, everybody you know knows WHO you are and what you're doing at all times).

Then there's the media here, which has a huge impact on public opinion. I know someone who works for a large company that had a falling-out with a high-profile personality, and even though the person was in the wrong, the jury faulted the defendants...because the local media made the person out to be a victim. Don't be mislead by the initial objectivity of the first article: if the student sues, the media will turn against the whole family in a flash...as it is, the student may be in deep shit for allowing the matter to go public.

Remember, this is in a county that will likely go 95% for rMoney-Ruin in November.
