His comments regarding "legitimate rape" are par for the course when you consider the GOP's assault on women's rights. These are the same people who oppose equal pay, want to restrict (or take away completely) a woman's right to choose, access to birth control, etc. All you have to do is browse the comments section for an article regarding women's rights or take a trip over to freeperville to see what these people really think. These are people who feel that we should return our country back to the 1950s - which means putting women back in the kitchen, minorities in the back of the bus, etc.

(27,787 posts)Of course the issue with what Atkins said is that he actually meant it.
Its why he and Ryan sponsored a bill in which they used the term "forcible rape". Because apparently some rapes are OK.
And if you want to know what the average Republican thinks on this, go to any news site and read their comments. Many of them agree with him.

(27,677 posts)they seem most upset that Akin said it out loud, where the lame stream media could take his words and repeat them verbatim.

(33,688 posts)This mentally challenged finger-sniffing fart eater just said out loud what most reichwingers truly believe in their hearts. The only reason they don't say it is because they'd get torpedoed like Akin did and they know it.
