Mitt Romney Tells Akin To Reconsider Staying In
Mitt Romney reportedly told Rep. Todd Akin (R-MO) to reconsider staying in the Missouri Senate race Monday and take the next 24 hours to make a final decsion. Campaign rules in Missouri allow Akin to drop out by Tuesday and be replaced. Romney "stopped short" of calling on Akin to leave the race, according to National Journal.

Sen. Ron Johnson Calls On Akin To Drop Out Of Missouri Race
Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson called on Rep. Todd Akin to drop out of the Missouri Senate race Monday. Johnson is the first sitting Republican senator not currently running for re-election to urge Akin to drop his bid in the wake of controversial comments on rape.
Ron Johnson@Ron4Senate
Todd Akins statements are reprehensible and inexcusable. He should step aside today for the good of the nation.

Udate 2:
Take Two: Romney Offers Stronger Akin Condemnation
Evan McMorris-Santoro
After releasing a tepid response to Rep. Todd Akins (R-MO) legitimate rape comments Sunday night, Mitt Romney joined the chorus of Republicans repudiating Akin Monday morning.
Rep. Akin comments on rape are insulting, inexcusable, and, frankly, wrong, Romney told National Review. Like millions of other Americans, we found them to be offensive.
Romney said he has an entirely different view and called on Akin to correct his comments.
Thats a much stronger response than the Romney campaigns first take on Akin. On Sunday night, Romneys campaign put out a statement distancing themselves from Akin but not directly condemning him.

I want to know if rush is making excuses for him. If rush isn't defending him, Akin is toast.

That he and my hand-picked running mate actually sat in a room together re-defining rape to suit our crazy base."
