Just now read that there's another "caravan" of asylum seekers starting out from Honduras. If truly refugees I welcome them myself But I have to wonder why there's another. The "welcome" (snark) they have received so far has SURELY been reported in Honduras as well as the rest of Central America. Who is organizing these? Why now?

My paranoid thoughts have been turning towards …….. could this caravan have been organized by trumpist supporters to embarrass us and/or as fodder for the trumpist base to get all riled up? A ploy to strip more centrist voters to support the crazy wall? Just a thought.

There was some great coverage of the last caravan, but it focused on the humanitarian aspects of the walk. If anybody has some good links about how these caravans generate, I'd be interested.

6. They do most of the caravans, BUT

I recall reading somewhere that they weren't responsible for the infamous one that received all the hype right before the election. Usually they organize them in the spring so when they arrive and have to disperse it's nice and warm up here. This one is a little early but if it's been warmer than normal down there or they think they'll need more time it would make some sense to get a head start.

What doesn't make sense, though, is one that started last fall, knowing full well they would arrive when the winter was beginning. Call me paranoid but I think that one was organized for political purposes.

I too was trying to find out more information about the pre-election caravan and it was surprisingly hard, nobody seemed to know how it got started or who organized it. Previous caravans had managed to stay low-key but that one seemed like it was intentionally organized to drum up emotions right before the election. After the election the story went away here in the US but Mexico kept covering it (unfavorably for the most part) for weeks. In particular, Facebook in Mexico lit up with memes about all the kinds of trouble the migrants were causing.

where the hell did they get the crazy idea that a leftist, jewish billionaire would be funding a bunch of people walking from central america through mexico to the u.s border? it makes no sense whatsoever and what a wacky idea!

but, not such a crazy stretch of the imagination if, in reality, some secret right-wing billionaire was actually organizing it as a coordinated part of donnie's p.r. that would make sense, and then bringing up soros as a projection/deflection move also makes more sense.

They are taking such harrowing journey because they don't see another way out.

No. Stop this. Think through what this would actually look like. It's bad enough that there are parts of our world so difficult and terrible that people are willing to walk hundreds of miles through countries that don't want them to try and get to the United States, without ignorant speculation that these are somehow organized by Trump supporters. Trump already has support. There are much easier ways to whip them up than...what, hiring people on the ground in Honduras to find people willing to drop everything and walk to the U.S. to make a political point? Jesus.

social media. Just as Facebook spawned the "jaune gilet" movement, and as all media was responsible for spreading anti-Hillary Clinton propaganda in 2016, I do think it is worth asking, how the caravans generate.

On-line? What was the genesis of the last one? This is the sort of reporting I need to see.

I'm not in any way discounting the violence, environmental devastation and poverty that real people are fleeing in Central America.

At the same time I'm not past thinking the same Russian psyops team that is running our administration into the ground wouldn't be above exploiting others' pain to incite chaos in this country.

are people -- excuse me, right-wing billionaires -- out there organizing, recruiting for, paying for, supporting and implementing migrant and refugee movements *just to build public sentiment for Trump* is laughable.

I saw the so called latest caravan folks on Local 10 two days ago - interesting that they only started organizing after he said it. They look middle class, healthy and very suspect.
