As if the Republicans could excise their appalling record on women's reproductive rights by jettisoning Akin.

If he resigns, and I expect that there is pressure from RandR to do so, Claire M. has a better shot.
If he stays in, he can be continually connected to RandR.
Either way I think he is toast.

If he stays, this becomes a lingering cancer not just on Mr. Combover's race, but on every close congressional and senate race in the country, not to mention the one for president.

Whether he quits or not, this race suddenly shifts to McCaskill's favor, but she doesn't want him to quit. That alone should tell you something.

This is a supposed to be a close senate race-possibly the closest senate race this year. Akin is the gift that keeps on giving for Claire. He wants to end free and reduced lunches for poor children. Why? "Because the government shouldn't be in the business of education." He wants to end all Medicare. Why? "Because the government shouldn't be in health care." He compared student loans and grants to stage three cancer, stating that they will kill this country.

He always said all kinds of stupid all before the most disgusting of all comments. Claire's camp handpicked him as her opponent by lobbing slow softballs over the plate during the primary while dragging all his opponents through the mud. They referred to him as "too conservative for the state", knowing that's all that was needed to get him to win.

If he stays Claire wins-and by a landslide. I'm more than happy to give her my vote come this November, not just because she's a Dem but because I now know that she's a fighter who can think ahead of the game.
