Food for thought WRT Bachmann withdrawing

Every time one of the arch conservatives withdraws their supporters will consolidate around one of the surviving contenders. The sooner that support congeals the sooner that conservative can campaign in earnest. It's not as if Bachmann's supporters will sit-out the election they will instead move to Gingrich or the Not-Romney of the Month.

This might actually bump Santorum. I for one fail to see how the withdrawal of Bachmann is a good thing if it ushers in the equally repugnant Santorum with even more momentum.

What we want, from a strategic perspective, is a drawn-out, protracted fight. We want the GOP to self-destruct. Regardless of your hopefulness for Democrat victories in November it isn't enough to simply win; that's merely a holding action. We must defeat conservativism ideologically through a well-voiced public mandate. Anything less will simply result in more ambiguity and gridlock.

I just wish she had stayed in longer to maintain the fissures as long as possible and allowing the winnowing acrimony to build.
