An international flight on a private aircraft has to make prior arrangements with customs officials; you can't just waltz into another country without a passport because you arrived in your own airplane.

The principal utility of a passport is to make it easier to re-enter the US.

Yes, of course, a lot of countries won't let you enter if you just show up without one. Some do, some don't.

You can just walk right into Mexico at the pedestrian crossing at San Ysidro - no questions asked other than "Taxi?" If you do that without a passport, you'll have no problem until you want to get back into the US. (Ultimately, it will just slow you down a lot, since as a US citizen you have an inherent right to enter the US.)

Snowden got into Russia after revocation of his passport just fine.

If the Russians want to welcome Stone into their country in whatever manner he gets there, then that's entirely up to the Russians.

What he would not want to do is to transit through any other country in the process. If he leaves the US and the US notifies Interpol of the warrant, then he can be stopped and detained during international transit through any country which will honor the Interpol notice.

This has been reported on many times. My millionaire boss personally experienced traveling with an extremely wealthy party and learned first hand that passports are for the rest of us. Millionaires and Billionaires have no borders.

The Constitution forbids excessive bail.

Does denial of bail happen? You bet it does - but only under limited circumstances.

Stone is a non-violent criminal with no reason to believe he is a flight risk. Please explain how the criteria for denial of bail would apply to Stone.

This may help:

On the radio they were talking about how specifics surrounding this may have meant that he would be going to jail today. I have no idea how informed they were on those specifics, and I am no legal expert either. It would have been nice to see him in the clink if it was possible for him to have to sit in lockup.

If the FBI used a tarp, that certainly dispells the lie pushed by InfoWars that CNN was tipped off by Mueller so they could have the perp walk on camera.

The arrest video that is out there just shows FBI agents going to Stone's door, him opening it, then it cuts off. But no tarps and canopies.

Looks like those tarps and canopies were put up after the arrest, as they were executing their search warrant on Stone's house. Looks like they've settled it for the day for the warrant search. I bet they'll find some amazing stuff.

I wonder how the FBI got Stone from the front door to their vehicles. They may have seen the media out front, so they brought a vehicle around back and loaded him in.

Regardless, it is pretty clear CNN was just monitoring the indictment filings and following a hunch, and got lucky. But still did not get the money shot of Stone in shackles. If there was a tip off by Mueller, Mueller would have let CNN get that shot. Obviously they did did. Plus, the Mueller team would never tip off. The Mueller team members, like Mueller, don't leak.

Federal courts in general don't have public cameras, and certainly not for initial appearances.

So, no appearance on American Bandstand for Stone...
