Former Mass. Gov. William Weld to announce possible run for president as a Republican
William Weld, the former Republican governor of Massachusetts who was the Libertarian Party's nominee for vice president in 2016, is mulling a run for president and could make an announcement about a possible presidential run as soon as Thursday.
Sources tell NewsCenter 5 he has taken a leave of absence from his law firm and it is unclear whether he is announcing the run or announcing the formation of an exploratory committee. The news was first reported by WCVB's On The Record co-anchor Janet Wu, who has learned any possible run would be made as a Republican. https://www.wcvb.com/article/former-mass-gov-william-weld-to-announce-possible-run-for-president/26092546

1. Wiki says he was Bill's nominee for ambassador to Mexico but JHelms said no!
So maybe not too bad.
Old school New England republican? He's in his early 70s! |

6. No..I thought the same thing but they actually just all agreed to support the fake president...for
now. If you read their declaration it says nothing about forgoing primaries or even that they are supporting him for fake prez 2020. They just ratified that they support him now...in the moment

5. I suspect he and Schultz have pretty similar views. Neither stands a chance, of course.
It's all about ego and fame for these assholes.

12. He was on a ticket with Gary Johnson, so I have a tough time thinking he's a "good guy."
Libertarians are pretty atrocious.

15. I'm almost embarrassed to admit this, but Weld is the only republican I have ever
voted for in my life. He was running against the odious John Silber for governor of MA as a socially liberal republican (Silber was a social conservative and a nasty piece of work). I wasn't proud of it, but I could not stand Silber (anti-choice) and Weld seemed like a reasonable choice at the time.
I really hope Weld challenges Trump. He's sane, decent and level-headed. I would think most reasonable republicans would jump at the chance to have him as the preferred candidate. |

14. Bill Weld is decent, smart guy.
He will give Dump hell the primaries and if he gets the nomination, he will make it a difficult race for the Democratic nominee. I believe he worked with Hillary Clinton during the Watergate investigations.
Do not underestimate Bill Weld. |
