PUtin has the carrot - Trump Tower and possible loan forgiveness and the stick - audio and maybe even video of him being a traitor and acting against America at PUtin's insistence.

Basically a conventional NATO today is much stronger than Russia, and the INF play by their asset in the oval office is another move in the attempt to weaken/dissolve NATO.

Putin has already set up the takeover of the oil industry, the only reason idiot is going there is to wag the dog and protect the takeover with OUR military rather than pooty's because that would raise too many eyebrows. Everybody expects shithead to do this kind of thing now.

Putin needs the current management / ownership of PDVSA to stay in place. He has done a lot to prop them up and Maduro is paying Putin in gold and in oil field access to Rosneft.

Russia gets hurt significantly if Maduro falls. BBC has a good article on this https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-47087875

I think the Russia / Trump relationship is more complex than simple puppeteer / puppet.

>> I think the Russia / Trump relationship is more complex than simple puppeteer / puppet.

Alternative explanation: perhaps the Trumpian American government is so fractured that it has parts acting independently. (Trump's not into details.) Maybe military/intelligence is independent. Maybe oil industry. Maybe foreign policy. "Do what you want -- just don't let the boss know." Like in Reagan's later years.

Russian bad guys instead of becoming President and giving them their payback in "other ways"? Wonder what would have happened to him if he had not become President? I think it's obvious he could not have paid them back financially.
