Last year, the only SCOTUS Justices to attend were Roberts, Breyer, Kagan, and Gorsuch.
Ginsburg, Sotomayor, Alito, Thomas, and Kennedy sat it out.

Alito and Thomas have been skipping it for a number of years, and while he was alive, Scalia skipped in more often than not.

It's never been clear to me why they need to be there for this anyway. They should not be involved in setting the "national agenda" or whatever this stupid speech is supposed to be.

If the idea is to show all branches of the government in one room, send the chief justice and rotate one of the other 8 every year. I can see some value in everyone being in one room to some degree.
