He'll never learn. The world's most prominent misogynist will never "win" against Speaker Pelosi

This fascinates me on so many levels that I wanted to gather my thoughts and get it down in writing.

FIRST...this is the woman who was inundated with cries of "It's time for a new Speaker." All that remains from those cries is silent awe, and multiple servings of humble pie.

SECOND...She's a woman. But she's brought the Death Star to Trump's insular world where women are demeaned, demoralized, objectified, and turned into subservient lackeys in order to polish the brass on the monuments he's built to commemorate his own kingly magnificence. Kellyanne Conway and Sarah Sanders could write a book about selling their souls and dignity to this vile swine. And while there is no shortage of dignified, powerful women who stand in opposition to him, THIS is the woman who terrifies him. THIS is where the pigeons come home to roost. THIS is the woman that he can't slander with a nickname. Oh, he'll say things such as her being bad for the country because she wants caravans, armed with an endless supply of duct tape, to rape and murder and set up human trafficking operations on our southern borders, home of a "National Emergency" that somehow doesn't prevent him from enjoying a taxpayer-financed weekend of golf with Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus. That's simply a matter of chest-thumping, hubris, and showing "strength" to his "base." But have you noticed that ALL of Trump's remarks about Nancy Pelosi are FREE OF gender-specific insults? The reason for that is simple. She TERRIFIES him.

THIRD...Every attempt at "one-upsmanship" is met with a swift and brutal smackdown. There's the shutdown, of course. But last night, Trump breached long-standing protocol by bolting onto the stage and beginning his speech in order to avoid an introduction from Speaker Pelosi. What she did after that shot straight into the history books,

FOURTH...Take a look at the videos, of her ebullient glow on Pelosi's face as the women in the chamber gave themselves TWO standing ovations. THEY WERE NOT standing for Trump and his "accomplishments." They were standing because the clueless slob at the podium was in the company of women who had ascended to power, who made it clear that there are things he CAN'T get away with "because he's a star." There was much discussion of this last night...it was karma for the "Access Hollywood" tape...an end of Trump's reign of terror against women, his sense of entitlement that told him women were put on the Earth exclusively for his use.

I don't think I have ever witnessed a "Smackdown In Silence"...I don't think I've ever seen a woman level a man flat to the ground without a single word, just facial expressions and body language. As I posed last night, she was the "Plaid Shirt Guy" taken to a whole new level. She reviewed her papers, she rolled her eyes, she smiled slyly as Trump spewed one line of Stephen Miller-penned tripe after another.

This is probably not the last time I'll write on this subject. It's a work in progress, but last night...dear GOD, last night.

deservedly I might add, for her “worshipful gaze” whenever she looked at her adored Ronnie. That’s what it was called. A “worshipful gaze.” As though he were some kind of latter-day messiah or something. Rather ridiculous. It sometimes bordered on the pathetic.

The first time I heard that description, I had two reactions: “EEEUUUUW!” And “yeah, that pretty much nails it.” It was always weird to watch - at best, and seriously uncomfortable at worst. But then again, I could never understand why ANYBODY would feel that kind of ardor toward that addled old sales dude.

I always found him to be both a kindly but slightly addled old geezer, AND the most dangerous man in the world - for his formidable skills as a communicator, actor, and CON man. With that “harmless” and amiable “old Uncle Dutch” shtick of his, he could almost literally sell you on human sacrifice for church.

Not uncommon in marriages or in business relationships.

Frequently necessary for pure survival. Yes Sir, Mr. Stalin, Genghis, Trump, Hitler.

So I put on some Bluegrass, muted the screech and toggled back and forth between that and DU. I certainly caught the body language and I saw some great body language from the Speaker, but I missed a lot too.

I agree that Speaker Pelosi is a master. Even everyone in the Senate knows not to go too far in opposing her and don't get stupid about it, she will put you in your place and deliver the appropriate amount of burn required to make you wise up. If you don't learn you will be exposed and your constituents will usually remove you for a more effective representative.

Currently, the most powerful woman in the US is Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi.

And he blew it from the beginning by not waiting to be introduced because it's always all about him after all. I really loved the Speaker's necklace! And her applause, the FU clap... was awesome.

I couldn't stand to listen though I could hear the drone of his horrid croaking voice through the floor because my neighbors had it on... I think they're fans of cheatolini. They aren't very bright either.

Anyway, I'll spend a good part of the day finding snippets of the event to find the best parts that I did miss.

I saw AOC on MNBC after the screech with her guest, they were articulate and intelligently awesome while they ripped cheato a new one during their opportunity to speak!

One thing I was annoyed with re dolt45's body language was that he assumed a Mussolini stance and maintained it throughout. He obviously sees himself as a dictator and he is upset that we aren't accepting it. Can't wait until he's gone.

Nancy Pelosi turns clapping into a viral art form as she trolls Trump
House speaker’s sarcastic applause for the president without saying a word has become the defining moment from his State of the Union address

See: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/feb/06/nancy-pelosi-clap-trump-photo-state-of-the-union

(snip)
Nancy Pelosi is known as a shrewd political tactician and tireless public servant, but after Tuesday night’s State of the Union address she can add world-class mime to her résumé. Throughout the speech the House speaker managed to undermine Trump without speaking a word, employing subtle eye rolls or apparently ignoring him by reading papers to show her disapproval.

Her pièce de résistance came when Trump, who has repeatedly attacked Democrats in the most unsavory terms and engaged in petty tit-for-tat with Pelosi during last month’s partial government shutdown, called on Washington to “reject the politics of revenge, resistance and retribution and embrace the boundless potential of cooperation, compromise and the common good”. She stood up and began applauding Trump with her arms outstretched towards him, in a manner so sarcastic it would likely get her sent off during a soccer game.

It quickly became the meme of the evening, with Twitter users, one of whom described it as a “walrus clap”, reimagining the applause as everything from a feminist smirk to a new way of cursing.

Some say UK parliamentarians may adopt this stance during Question Time!........

...and I do, very much, and have for years, The 'smackdown of his one-upmanship' doesn't require the wit of Oscar Wilde or Dorothy Parker, or an incisive mind like Hillary Clinton or Sam Harris, supremely skilled at debate and able to maintain supreme grace under fire.

Beautiful to behold, but not vitally needed.

While Nancy Pelosi can be all of that, his ham-handed, intellectually arid forays into "combat" could be parried by a huge number of people who merely need to be informed and have NP's backbone. Admittedly, that backbone part isn't exactly ubiquitous, but...

He lunges wildly and throws wide, clumsy punches. She sidesteps and throws jabs that snap his head back. One day, I'm sure she'll throw a hook with her whole body behind it that few of us will see coming...let alone that malevolent clown.

To belabor the analogy, we need a 3-knockdown rule.
