KABUL, Afghanistan - Afghan President Hamid Karzai is welcoming a possible deal that would allow Taliban insurgents to open an office in Qatar in order to hold talks with the United States.

Karzai said Wednesday his government agrees with the establishment of the office because it could lead to an end of the bloodshed in Afghanistan. He has previously said such a bureau could be opened in Turkey, Saudi Arabia or Qatar.
