Lindsey Buckingham underwent emergency open heart surgery late last week, and though hes on the mend at home, the operation resulted in vocal cord damage.
The former Fleetwood Mac rockers wife, Kristen Buckingham, posted the update on Facebook Friday afternoon, capping off a tumultuous year for the musician that included his ouster from the Grammy-winning band.
Each day he is stronger than the last, his wife wrote. While he and his heart are doing well, the surgery resulted in vocal cord damage. While it is is unclear if this damage is permanent, we are hopeful it is not.
All touring and shows scheduled will be put on pause as Buckingham gathers the strength to heal completely, she added.

(13,540 posts)I had bypass surgery in May and one of the "benefits" after you come out of the terrible things that happen to your body is that the tube down your throat causes some damage that takes awhile for you to recover from.
Time will help healing. Having your chest opened and your ribs pulled apart is no fun. But its better that than the grave.
In 6 months Buckingham is going to be much better.
I wish him well.
