Trump accused of breaking law after refusing to report to Congress on Khashoggi's brutal killing

https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-declines-bipartisan-investigate-khashoggi-killing-2019-2

The White House on Friday signaled President Donald Trump will ignore a request from a bipartisan group of senators to investigate and report on the Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi's brutal killing.

Senators on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in October invoked the Global Magnitsky Act of 2016 in response to Khashoggi's killing, which gave the president 120 days to provide Congress with a report on his findings and how he plans to react.

The Global Magnitsky Act is an Obama-era law named for Sergei Magnitsky, a Russian accountant and whistleblower who died in a Russian prison after suffering serious abuse. The law expanded on previous legislation, the Magnitsky Act, which imposed sanctions on Russians accused of being involved in serious human-rights violations.

The updated law offers a path for the US to impose sanctions on people who've committed gross human-rights violations outside of Russia. It also includes a requirement for the president to respond within 120 days to requests from the heads of a number of congressional committees with a report on whether a "foreign person" has committed human-rights violations and if sanctions will be imposed.

he will keep getting away with it. He is sitting in the White House in spite of it being known he is a con man from way back. He thinks he's above the law and so far he is. Hopefully something will be done about it soon.

... Trump administration could be connected to this Khashoggi killing moreso than just running interference for the murderous Prince. If Bezos can somehow make that connection then I think impeachment hearings start the next day.

laws actually don't apply to him.

He breaks them all the time and there is never any consequence for him. Never.

(This is frustrating in the extreme for me)

is that he's supposedly a rich guy so he gets to do what he wants without following the rules of society the rest of us do.

Also, apparently being a psychopath means that it is always someone else's fault.

Yup.

Our government is all about power, greed and re-election. Not necessarily in that order. Always has been-until the victimized masses make it wayyy too uncomfortable.
Unfortunately in a “civilized” republic, that is a slow process. Elections have consequences but they are an arduous process that breeds the very behavior we need to keep in serious check.
Vicious cycle.
And when there is a dangerous self-aggrandizing sociopathic malignant-Narcissist, ignorant, pathological liar calling the shots as a front man for a treasonous political party....
Well we live that nightmare daily.
