He has pitted city against city and received a free media blitz for who can give him the most money to bring jobs to their city. It's trickle down economics plain and simple.
It's wonderful he is battling trump.
It's wonderful some of trump's cronies might end up in prison for the evidence Bezos has brought forward.
It's wonderful he bought the WaPo and is supporting the crucial investigative journalism which hopefully will play a part in saving our nation.
But, don't forget he has way more money and power than anyone should have and he doesn't seem to care that so many have to suffer so that he can have that money and power.

I also think he will probably fight against dems if they go after changing the system.

Congresswoman, I appreciate your passion for this issue and I know that youve been very involved in the frontline. replied Whitaker.
This is about more than my passion, Jayapal interrupted. This is about the childrens future, Mr. Whitaker. Please answer.

Didn't you say "bye" a while ago?

(4,448 posts)As a fan of online commerce, I don't really understand the hatred for this guy.
I can't even guess that amount of money, time and carbon footprint (driving) I have saved by buying online via Amazon.

(47,415 posts)He is the CEO who would not quit advertising on Breitbart in spite of the many complaints and petitions urging him to do so. He wouldn't even acknowledge his customers' concerns. There were numerous message boards on Amazon about the issue and his response was to take down all the message boards.
The man is not a hero, but I will definitely give him credit for what he is doing right now.

(21,563 posts)I think people like Bezos should be paying WAY more in taxes and be paying their employees a living wage.......... but those are political issues, not Bezos issues. I can't hate a person for taking advantage of HORRIBLE laws put in place by the GOP.
I wish amazon would have fair labor practices simply because it is the right thing to do... but that is EVERY company. We need to VOTE the right people in to get the changes we need.
THAT BEING SAID.......... in this day and age, with a traitor in the white house...... i'm perfectly fine with accepting that "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" and working with anyone and everyone that will help bring down drumpf and his cabal.
Watching him take down The National Enquirer is absolutely delicious and knowing how it is freaking out Trump is a dream come true. It is bad enough that Bezos has the advantage, he is also the richest man in the world, something Trump can only dream of. Trump can lash out and call Bezos silly petty names, but it all just rolls right off.
So I will cheer Bezos on right now, but when it is over, I'll be at the front of line criticizing him as I've done in the past.

(21,563 posts)if you are waiting for business owners to start reaching into their pockets to pay a living wage you are going to be waiting forever. That's why I said these are "political" issues, not bezos issues.

Including many thousands of small business owners who are supporting their families well by selling through Amazon. If he didn't, someone else would have. Oh, wait a second, many others also have. He's just the biggest.
Don't like the costs and various tradeoffs? Vote. Vote every time for people who believe in sensible protective controls to keep nations and their consumers and workers -- and businesses -- healthy, stable and prosperous.
I do, and it's not Bezos I blame because shirkers have not bothered to regulate him and have allowed him to become far too powerful for our own good.
And now, over a half hour's fast drive away from edges of the nearest mediocre shopping district that I won't be making, I'm going to go shopping for a new case for my new iphone. Big job sifting through even a fraction of the choices in my price range, but I can't afford to pay someone to shop the world for me. Sigh. While I'm there expect I'll browse the books a while, even though John Dingell's autobiography is due to arrive tomorrow.
