Jesus. I don't think even the most fanatical Trump fanboys would've made something like this here in the US. How the hell is Trump this popular in Italy??

(2,199 posts)I traveled through the Italian countryside a few years ago. Among the hills, remnants of WWII bunkers and other structures are still there. I was told they were left to remind the people of the horrors of Mussolini's rule.
The further we get from that history though, the less of an impact it has. The bad actors know this.

I don't think my uncles or my dad or FIL would tolerate promoting nazis or the Empires policies.
It all ties in to the rise of unions and the middle class, too many citizens don't realize just what had to be done to
insure our republic.

(31,811 posts)It's a joke about him. And about America.
He's a native Italian speaker, and his Spanish isn't where his Portuguese, French and English are.
They aren't worshipping Trump here. They are making fun of America.

(5,586 posts)begins with the following 3 paragraphs:
It is the 41st millennium. For more than a hundred centuries the Emperor has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth. He is the master of mankind by the will of the gods, and master of a million worlds by the might of his inexhaustible armies. He is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with power from the Dark Age of Technology. He is the Carrion Lord of the Imperium for whom a thousand souls are sacrificed every day, so that he may never truly die.
Yet even in his deathless state, the Emperor continues his eternal vigilance. Mighty battlefleets cross the daemon-infested miasma of the warp, the only route between distant stars, their way lit by the Astronomican, the psychic manifestation of the Emperors will. Vast armies give battle in his name on uncounted worlds. Greatest amongst His soldiers are the Adeptus Astartes, the Space Marines, bio-engineered super-warriors. Their comrades in arms are legion: the Astra Militarum and countless planetary defence forces, the ever-vigilant Inquisition and the tech-priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from aliens, heretics, mutants and worse.
To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruellest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be re-learned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods.

Desperate people don't think out their decisions and ignore the warnings, we saw it with the 2016 vote and turnout in the rust belt. Italy is doing the same thing

(5,586 posts)is a savior like figure that nearly all of humanity worships. If this artist wanted to create a satirical piece, he could have done a LOT, the least of which is present Trump as a different character in the universe, like Horus or Abaddon. Both of those characters betrayed humanity, waged a war on behalf of evil gods that wanted to destroy humanity and consume their souls.
The Emperor literally wants to save humanity from these devious and evil chaos gods and usher in a new golden age of science and secularism (the Imperial Truth). He's betrayed by his son Horus, and seriously wounded, which effectively sabotage's his grand plan for humanity.

(2,389 posts)Thousands of people lined the streets of Viareggio on Saturday to watch a parade of satirical floats in the Italian city's annual carnival.
Renowned for its tongue-in-cheek take on contemporary issues, this year's parade focused primarily on world politicians and environment themes.
One float depicted US President Donald Trump as an emperor with Twitter symbols adorning the hilt of his sword.
Other floats tackled themes of bullying, with hyenas tearing through a book, and environmental issues by showing a whale swimming in plastic and "Mother Nature" as Snow White being poisoned with an apple.

Trump is dressed like xi, putin, and un in a Korean uniform with a missile between his legs, holding a broken olive branch. They are holding down a peace dove.
