trump really can't read

I find this both amusing and terrifying for obvious reasons. He really is an idiot in the purest clinical sense of the word. These definitions are archaic and considered offensive now but they fit trump to a "t" and I don't mind being offensive towards that bastard anytime at all.

https://www.merriam-webster.com/words-at-play/moron-idiot-imbecile-offensive-history

"Idiot, imbecile, and moron were, not so long ago, used in a psychological classification system, and each one was assigned to a fairly specific range of abilities.

Idiots.—Those so defective that the mental development never exceeds that or a normal child of about two years.
Imbeciles.—Those whose development is higher than that of an idiot, but whose intelligence does not exceed that of a normal child of about seven years.
Morons.—Those whose mental development is above that of an imbecile, but does not exceed that of a normal child of about twelve years.

Report: Donald Trump is Hooked on Phonics

By Connor Garrett
Posted on January 8, 2018

Donald Trump pretends to read.

"Sources close to the White House say President Trump was absolutely furious after Sarah Huckabee Sanders read him excerpts from Michael Wolff’s new book Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House.

One criticism apparently disturbed the former reality television star above all of the others outlined in the book — the claim that the president cannot read, or at best, has poor reading comprehension skills.

...

“The president has devoted himself to Hooked on Phonics,” says Sarah Huckabee Sanders. “Not that he couldn’t read or anything. But a genius never stops learning.”

The president is reportedly driven by a desire to read Fire and Fury all by himself. He has made some progress, yet he still has not completed a chapter book. Trump prefers “the books with pictures.”

I believe that he can read, but that his attention span is so short that he can't read a book without getting impatient and wandering off. He has an attention span about as long as a tweet.

And this ain't Ripley's - they actually have to "phoneticize" his speeches into tiny syllable bytes he can understand and use to mouth words he can't pronounce or understand.

That's why he's reading Hooked on Phonics.

I can't help but find it amusing when he's reading the teleprompter and suddenly something he's reading gets his attention and he acts as if he's reading it for the first time. And that's because he's comprehending it for the first time. I mean, he may have stared at the page in a run-through of a speech, but he was just going through the motions of reading. He has a lot of trouble focusing and basically just ad libs his way through things.

He has a learning disability and compensates for it. He fakes it.

Just my non-expert opinion.

fairly frequently is he will say the wrong word, and rather than correct himself, he then adds "AND [the correct word]". It is like he has jumped the gun and blurted out the wrong word based on the first few letters, but since he never admits being wrong even on something as insignificant as speech-giving, now he has to roll with it. I can't remember the example now, but once it so significantly changed the meaning of the sentence that reporters had to ask Huckster-Sanders about it and she, of course, played along like Trump meant what he said.

You can tell he is doing this several ways. First is there is often a slight pause before he says "and X" rather then the cadence people often use when speaking pairs of words. Another one is that the words often start with the same letters or word root or otherwise sound somewhat similar. That could be intentional on the speechwriter's part, of course, except that the first word in these word pairs makes little to no sense in the context of the sentence but the second word does. Sometimes the words are even different parts of speech (a noun then an adjective, a verb then a noun, etc) and the first one is just nonsense from a grammar standpoint.

Where he says the wrong word and then says the right word, with no correction.

A lot of people have learning disabilties. When I'm really tired I get dyslexic. I apologize and correct myself. I don't try to pass it off as the correct way to say things. What he does is just sheer dishonesty.

It's a real slog even for those who like reading and Bible stories. I was raised Catholic. We had the Bible explained in Catechism class. I had to read it to know what was actually in it.

Because he can give long speeches like the SOTU using a teleprompter.

He is WAAAAAAY too lazy to have memorized an hour and half speech, so the only POSSIBLE way he could've given that speech is if he read it.

Now, there may be lots of 'aids' to help him with pronunciations and shit, like 'KOM PRO MIZE', but he can definitely read.

I'd bet he hates to though.

Yes, it's obviously satire, but people do legitimately try to claim he can't read. That's nonsense.

This is how internet memes get started just like trumps myriad lies take hold.

Truth doesn't matter anymore. Take a swing and hope it hits. It's working for that bastard traitor.
