The quality of the discussion is the thing.

No one’s opinion is: silly, stupid, dumb, irrelevant, duh, swoosh or any other dismissive statement another makes.

Everyone’s opinion should be taken seriously.

When “they” say we should be meaner, “they” don’t mean each other.

Fight the right fight against trump.

I am saddened to see how many people equate being powerful/effective with being mean. I see people say, "You have to fight fire with fire" and I think that I have an idea of what they are trying to say, but I have seem people say that we have to do what Republicans do. I have started threads on trying to clarify what people think we should do, but the greatest amount of responses I got was maybe 20 and those threads sink like a stone.

We have to assert our values to promote them in opposition to what Republicans do. We have to not be afraid to say that Trump is lying or that Steve King is pushing racist and White Supremacist views. We have to be willing to stand up to Trump and point out that he uses bullying nicknames because he has no real plan for the US.

We can accomplish this using strong assertive and honest language but we do not have to be offensive or "mean".

Because "anything" describes what they will throw at us. Be serious, be factual, and don't hesitate to call out their lies or expose their dirty tactics. Don't start apologizing for something you're sure you have even done, but rather expose who tried to make a big deal of it, who paid to have it done, and who put them up to it. If you HAVE done something you think they can get you on, DON'T RUN. Be useful in other ways. Ego trips are one-way trips to defeat and obscurity. Don't go.

In a word, be BETTER. That will probably be the best formula for us.
