Sherrod Brown blames Trump for encouraging violence against reporters at rallies

A top Senate Democrat testing the 2020 presidential campaign waters on Tuesday charged President Trump with inciting violence against journalists at his rallies, and called on him to stop the violence.

Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown, in the middle of a campaign listening tour around the country, said that Trump needs to go on national TV to talk about the violence, like the alleged assault of a TV cameraman at Monday night’s Trump rally in Texas.

“It’s become too par for the course,” said Brown, who is married to a journalist.

“It’s important that the president at some point sooner or later goes on television, not just tweets, but goes on television and says that reporters and journalists are not enemies of the people and that in fact he should call of his supporters who are doing those kinds of things, call them out and ask them to stop,” Brown said at a journalist breakfast roundtable sponsored by the Christian Science Monitor.

Hoping that Trump will go on the teevee machine and and say that reporters and journalists are not enemies of the people, is completely contrary to what he's said before. Trump says the media are the enemies of the people and he says it quite often because that's what he thinks, and that's what he believes. As Maya Angelou said, When someone tells you who they are, believe them.

Stop making excuses.

Stop hoping he'll change.

Stop thinking he doesn't really mean it.

That's what a person in an abusive relationship does. That's not a good example to follow.

I have no idea why people expect the orange buffoon to behave with decency, its not in his genes, not his character, he is a very natural indecent being, he doesn't know how to behave different...a monkey in silk is still a monkey...

other Democratic candidates. This is another Institution-busting strategy because the Trumpster cannot survive in the clear daylight. Bashing the press is a typical move for a wanna-be dictator. If Trump keeps it up, journalists will die at the hands of the crazies.

We keep getting warnings, incidents, near misses. Spotlighting the attacks on the free press should be top and center to any 2020 campaign. Without a free press, the Republic vanishes. We've already had Khashoggi murdered and rendered into a thousand pieces by a foreign 'ally' with barely a hiccup from this Administration. This can never become the norm.

I would think that a case could be made before a jury that rational people would recognize that Trump encouraging people to violence might actually result in violence and harm to others. He constantly acts in a manner of reckless disregard for the safety of others. I would love to see a civil suit against him with the possibility of additional monetary penalties.

another stellar example of First Amendment rights abuse in our so called democracy for the world to see. Our fake prez is making our reputation drop lower and lower on the world wide stage.

I understand he took and ripped their banners, then using his huge belly and body intimidated them to force them to leave...I hope they recognize the guy and he gets his dues for harassing women.

Why is it that no one is talking about that?
