Maybe I’ll get ambitious if i get some free time and do that and then grab state populations. Probably not but commenting so i can find this again.

I’d guess that these numbers include military? That could explain some of the outsized nubers.

At one time, we were something like 2nd behind D.C. metro area, although with the big Navy base, Naval Shipyard & Frankford Arsenal closures and the reorg of the old DPSC, that took out a big chunk. Still the 3rd Circuit Court, a U.S. Mint, and a Federal Reserve Bank are here in Philly, among the usual Executive Branch departments.

This site includes PA - http://www.governing.com/gov-data/federal-employees-workforce-numbers-by-state.html (using drop down menu to select a state)
