I'm not happy with a lot of things I thought Obama should have or not have done. I think it's wrong to be critical of the screwed up things the GOP is doing or has done in the past and to not be critical of the democrat's short comings. There comes a time when for the betterment of America, we must all put aside our pet peevs and look at the greater picture. Do we want another fearful, depressing and hopeless, picture like we looked at for eight long years under Bush, or do we want a picture in which things are starting to look a bit better like we're starting to see now? The GOP still sees nothing wrong with the things that Bush and Cheney did. America can't survive another Bush like administration. I'm still wondering if we will survive the last Bush administration which brought hope and trust to the very brink of extinction.
I wish it could be different NOW, in so many ways, but for the greater good of you, me and our country, I will vote a straight democratic ticket in November of this New Year. That is my resolution.

But yes, I will vote Dem, but will probably still be critical of things they do wrong.

(62,683 posts)What discourages me is the shredding. When nothing is good enough. When it didn't happen soon enough -- stuff like that.
But definitely, they need to be criticized (and contacted) when they do something blatantly un-Democratic.

(37,726 posts)So will I. I have been all along.
It's called being fair. Something the GOP will never understand.

(34,845 posts)You don't even have to do anything to fulfill it until November! Piece of cake!

(17,055 posts)As soon as both major party nominees become clear, election season begins on DU per TOS. I think that will happen much sooner than November.

(37,726 posts)The RATpublicans are fighting like cats and dogs for control of the ragged remnant of a political organization.(sweet to watch)
The Toxic Tea Baggers funded by the Koch brothers and piloted by Dick Armey has done so much internal erosion within the old GOP that their unity is at the lowest point I can ever remember. The ducks are falling out of the row big time. The GOP's negative political toxin is so imbedded in America's political groundwater that their Kool-Aid is biting their ass instead of everyone else it's been aimed at since Reagan. The GOPers can thank Karl Rove, Rush, Dick Armey and FOX for the sad shape they find themselves in. The country understands well also how badly Bush and Cheney hurt this country.
Let the political bleeding of the toxic newt-cases and tea baggers continue to expand and to further divide them, until they are so diluted they are no longer toxic to the American Dream, that they have tried so hard, for so long, to murder!
The founding fathers would be happy to see these greed driven, lying, un-American, Scumbags, get the political drubbing they so richly deserve.

(16,646 posts)There was an article around here just the other day discussing how you don't really hear about Junior or Cheney from any of the candidates. It's like it never happened. Much of the current conservative backlash against Romney is connected to their disappointment in Bush and the GOP establishment. It is why there is also a severe distrust among the Tea Baggers with much of the leadership.
They are pissed about the war
They are pissed about the Drug Benefit
They are pissed about TARP
They are pissed that there is no balanced budget
They are pissed that several departments still exist including education, EPA, and Energy.
These nuts really believe that Romney is "liberal" and they want a "true conservative". They are still pissed about McCain, they wanted Huckabee.
Of course, they couldn't win to save their soul, but that doesn't stop them.

(16,646 posts)Rove isn't all that popular. Not pure enough. The 21% that are pushing Santorum is an over all small portion of the GOP, but they are very active in the primaries. I suspect we'll see a different race by the time we get to New Hampshire though.

(22,308 posts)Most are still pushing the Iraq war and wish we were still spending American blood and treasure there.
Many like that Big Pharma is now receiving even bigger profits on the backs of American tax payers.
Only the TPers really care about TARP, most want the banks to receive even more taxpayer money.
Only the TPers care about the balanced budget. They use it to attack Pres. Obama but Cheney was in office saying that "deficits don't matter". Most don't care about it but they just act like they do.
Only the Ronulans want to get rid of departments like the EPA, Energy and Education. There is no way they can win on this and if you explain to them that the Department of Energy keep the nuclear power plants from exploding the rank and file will support it's existence.

(37,726 posts)It came under attack on 12/12/ 2000 when the US Supreme Court Elected a President by a vote of five to four and the GOP has pressed that attack ever since.
Should we hand the SCOTUS on over to the GOP for the next four years, to add still more of their crony criminal judges to that mix? Can Obama un-do anything the Bush Crew has done, alone, without any help from Congress or the Supreme Court?

(52,589 posts)on the deeply ideological economic issues we are facing. I don't see the point in that. Just to say I voted for a D in a district that will vote against the majority of Democrats? Fortunately my congressional district doesn't sport a Blue Dog. I haven't made up my mind on my Third Way Senator yet. All Democrats down ticket I'll vote for however since I don't have any state reps in my state district connected with ALEC.

(9,512 posts)you don't get to decide that.
When i decide to pick someone apart it is because i have decided he/she is not "my people" and will not be "my people" until they change.
i will pick apart u.s. imperialism and u.s. fascist pseudo-democracy and its supporters, witting or unwitting, to my heart's content.
if you're not down with that you are not one of "my people."
p.s.: apparently obama doesn't see anything wrong with the things bush/cheney did either. my hope and trust has not been restored by obama.
