Stephen King: Trump's national emergency is a giant step away from democracy, toward dictatorship

Donald Trump’s purported determination to declare a “national emergency”to build his wall is a giant step away from democracy and a giant step toward dictatorship. He means to destroy an American form of government that has survived for 200+years.

The SALT deduction limitation will more than likely be the final straw.

It is going to open a permanent rift between NY, CA and New England and the rest of the states.

We aren’t going back to one nation, indivisible. Republicans have declared war on democracy and Democrats. They treat us not as the opposition, but as the enemy. And they have no interest in sharing governance with the enemy.

Putin gave us the final push by installing a malignant Manchurian candidate in the White House, but we were well on the way already after 30 to 40 years of the conservative “revolution”.

You cannot expect the states comprised of the majority of citizens to subscribe to a minority rule system that drains their tax dollars and spits on their values indefinitely. Eventually, the ties that bind will break.

we have migrants who want to come to our country for asylum. And look at us now, we are being threatened like them.

Does anyone think those who fought for our country to be a democracy, if they didn't make a stand we would have been a commonwealth??? This is our moment...……..sigh

Every one of them see themselves as a having supreme power to legislate spending. They aren't going to like being side stepped as mere advisers.

and built on the backs of those slaves.

White people are so afraid of being the minority that they would rather break their toy than share it with anyone that doesn't look like them.

Not only is he a narcissist and pathological liar there sure seems to be signs he may be already in at least beginning Alzheimer’s or something like that.

This is a full blown emergency alright, just not the one that evil orange guy thinks it is.
