This is so odd. Assuming they were acting independently from anyone else, I really want to know what their motive was to do such a thing.

It can't just be because he's gay. Smollett said himself that they also called him a racial slur and told him Chicago (that's right Chicago) is MAGA country.

They all followed each others' Instagram accounts I saw earlier, worked out at the same gym, parts on the same show. So the racist language was probably just a cover to throw off the real reason behind the attack.

So how could it be racist if the suspects are not white? Reportedly, he described suspects as white men wearing ski masks. Hard to understand how these two suspects can be confused for white men.

To me, it's like saying you can't be raped by a member of the same sex. I guess the point I'm trying to get at is even if they are the same race, the crime can still be "racially motivated".

The part about them being described as white with ski masks... I have no idea there.

No evidence of fabrication? Those arrested can't be mistaken for white as Smollett claimed. They worked on the set of Empire. They are Nigerians who have a distinctive accent. We will see where this goes.

I've got no quotes ... just reporting of him saying the attackers were white ... but no QOUTES from Smollet himself.

I'm not feeling good about this whole thing but to see the attackers arrested and charge leads more credence to Smollets claims.

The spokesman said they haven't seen anything yet to make them think it was staged. They haven't ruled it out yet.
