New York City councilman Rubén Díaz has doubled down on claims that the city has been taken over by gay people, after Amazon cancelled a plan to build a second headquarters in the city.
Díaz, a long-serving New York City politician and a Pentecostal minister, has faced calls to resign over his attacks on city council speaker Corey Johnson, who is gay.
In a February 9 interview, the politician claimed: Everybody is controlled by the homosexual community.
Brushing off calls to resign, Díaz re-escalated the row this week as he hit out at the cancellation of plans for Amazon to build a new headquarters in the city.

(6,709 posts)What is a Pentacostal "minister" doing as a Democratic politician in the first place? And while he's at it, maybe he'd like to explain to this dumb straight guy just what the "gay agenda" is?

(3,557 posts)Im sure therell be a part in the conversation to train guys from drinking beer to drinking only cosmopolitans. (Because Im certain that gay men dont like beer). If I didnt learn to hate beer and love cosmopolitans, Id be very disappointed by Obamas re-education efforts (I mean, its gotta be Obamas doing. Everything else is his fault).
Im trying to think of any other unfounded gay stereotypes out there, but Im drawing a complete blank.
youre absolutely right about getting married, buying a house, and sometimes having a family. Im pretty sure that Ive read somewhere that the average gay person is better educated and earns more money than the average straight person. What is there not to like about that?

Look at that crank former sheriff-trump toadie from Wisconsin. He was a Democrat in name only

(885 posts)I'm having gay feelings, but I can't possibly be gay, therefore The Gays are somehow controlling my mind to make me have these gay thoughts. I'm just guessing, but is that maybe what's going on in his mind?
It's easier to blame outside influences "controlling" you than to confront and claim your own feelings.
As a gay person, to some extent I can sympathize with the way that a person can be crushed by fear of society's disapproval and of the implied inadequacy of manhood that is especially difficult for gay men to face against. But ultimately, it's a test of character: do you hurt other people rather than deal with your fears? Or just yourself?
The people who make the choice -- and it is a choice -- to lash out and hurt gays because they can't bear to be gay themselves, these are evil people. I can recognize their pain while still condemning their behavior.
