There are so many potholes on the interstates around hear (in the northeast) that your teeth chatter constantly when you are driving.
There are bridges in which the metal beams are rusting clear through. This is sometimes even occurring near where they are bolted.

(205,241 posts)So many cars are damaged because of bad roads. Between the ice and the snowbanks here in New York snow country, driving is hazardous enough. But the other night I hit some kind of hole on my way home that was so deep that I was afraid I damaged my car. And it was dark so I'm not exactly sure where it is yet - so now I'm avoiding that part of the road as long as no one's coming the other way, besides looking out for deer at night. And I also agree about the bridges - we had a bridge collapse in this part of the state a few years back.

(182,788 posts)there are plenty of things that a billion and a half dollars could be used for. If you are going to go further into debt you should make it worth it. The first two, to me, are infrastructure and technology at the Federal level which is horrifically bad. There are 5 big news stories over the last few years that all center in bad tech but no one in the media bothers to makes the connection.

(15,543 posts)republicans won't do a damn thing to fix them. But they throw our tax money away on gourmet golf for a frikking "billionaire" draft dodging casino hustler.
Sick.

(5 posts)I agree that in some parts of the country the road surface is getting worse every year. The authorities cann't figure out how to overcome these problems. But while they think, cars damage and people die.
