... that he simply remained neutral? Your opinion, please. I know none of us knows for sure.
You asked if he encouraged me to; he did not, Mr. ORourke said. But he was very generous in sharing what his thought process was, leading up to that decision.

(20,043 posts)Voter turn out will be higher because of the presidential election. Granted, between now and then enough heinous stuff may have come out about Trump that it will get more TX Democrats and left leaning independents to the polls, but there are no guarantees. But Cornyn doesn't have the asshole factor Cruz has. Of course, I will support Beto if he runs, but it will be a battle.

(56,827 posts)in presidential elections years, it's typically the Democrats who have been getting bigger turnout.
But, would Beto have a better chance running for governor of Texas next time the statehouse there is up for grabs?

(20,043 posts)Greg Abbott will be up for reelection in 2022, so it will be a mid term election. We had a good turnout in 2018, but will we again in 2022? Who knows? That being said, Abbott beat Wendy Davis in 2014 by 19 points. His margin against relatively unknown Lupe Valdez in 2018 was 12 points.

(8,143 posts)Cornyn is gonna be harder to beat, not because Cornyn is such an amazing senator, but because its a presidential election year where more republicans will come out to vote.
Cornyn will likely get hundreds of thousands more votes than Ted Cruz did.
I hope Beto mounts a challenge against Cornyn!

(3,010 posts)No, he did not "encourage". It would be incorrect to assume anything further. Perhaps, Beto can be asked to clarify.
